For additional information visitPURPOSEObtains blood specimens from patients of all ages (newborn, children, adult, and geriatric) using venipuncture and capillary collection methods. Processes orders and specimens by following laboratory policies and procedures. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCollects laboratory specimens from patients of all ages, including patients with infectious diseases.\r\nProcesses laboratory orders and specimens according to protocol.\r\nDemonstrates appropriate telephone etiquette.\r\nUtilizes computer information systems\r\nAdheres to organization and governmental standards, rules and regulations.\r\nPerforms clerical duties\r\nPromotes professional customer service.\r\nAdheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.\r\nRegular and dependable attendance.\r\nFollows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on CMSweb.\r\nWorks holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy.\r\nOTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPrioritizes workload to efficiently provide Providers with information necessary.\r\nPerforms specimen collection according to requirements and standard operating procedure.\r\nDemonstrates knowledge of safety collection devices and follows universal precautions.\r\nAdheres to patient confidentiality policy.\r\nInitiates assistance to co-workers and customers as needed.\r\nComplies with laboratory ordering and billing compliance.\r\nAssists with training new employees/students.\r\nMaintains inventory of laboratory supplies and assists with storage.\r\nMaintains cleanliness of laboratory.\r\nReports complaints/problems to supervisor or person in charge.\r\nMay be required to flex to other clinics.\r\nPerforms waived testing and resulting with supervisory discretion.\r\nCheck laboratory appointment schedule daily for orders.\r\nResponsible for ensuring draw area is restocked and sharps containers/biohazard trash containers are emptied.\r\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\r\nQUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceEducation:High school diploma or GED equivalent.
