The Security Operations Center operates 24x7x365. This role performs security event management functions - monitoring, detection, triage of security events and alerts in associated monitoring systems. Facilitates the ingress, implementation, and egress of advanced client trouble / change requests for the Lumen managed DDoS product.\r\nThe Lead Information Security Engineer is expected to perform as technical lead, including basic managerial duties, escalation support and on-call. Provides mentoring, training, and escalation support for Junior Engineer SOC personnel.\r\nThe Main Responsibilities\r\nSubject Matter Expert on DDoS attacks, mitigation and threat analysis.\r\nDDoS worldwide intelligence collection, analysis, reporting and dissemination.\r\nThreat Feed research, recommendation, implementation and Administration.\r\nInterface with DDoS service vendors.\r\nExpertise in DDoS attack tools and countermeasures.\r\nPerform complex changes within the managed security environment.\r\nManage and resolve customer service faults, outage, and impairment events.\r\nMonitor, triage, and respond to alerts for client security events. Investigation and resolution of impairment scenarios on Managed DDoS Security products.\r\nResearch and implement customer generated change requests for Managed DDoS Security products.\r\nGenerate incident cases and escalate to Operation Engineering and IPNOC teams in accordance with time and severity-based SLA's.\r\nPerforms tasks associated with the installation, turn up and maintenance of Lumen security infrastructure.\r\nPresent as technical expert delivering solutions to clients, internal business, and third-party vendors.\r\nDevelop enhancements to existing solutions, promote creation of new tools, processes, and applications\r\nDirectly support, train and mentor tier I and II colleagues\r\nPossess exceptional customer service skills\r\nMulti-task during events\r\nCommunicate effectively with managers, customers, and vendors\r\nMaintain solid working relationships, including collaborative technical activities with peers\r\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\r\nAnalytical and problem-solving skills\r\nAttention to detail with good organizational capabilities\r\nPrioritize with good time management skills\r\nDemonstrate collaboration/cooperation with other Service Assurance teams outside of the SOC (IP/Ethernet, Transport, etc.)\r\nRegularly observed communication with peers and other functional SOC teams on selected collaboration platforms (Teams, Email, phone, etc.)\r\nWork within multiple ticketing platforms and accept/update/close tickets in order received.\r\nIf not previously approved, candidate must be willing to submit for a T/S clearance with SCI\r\nWhat We Look For in a Candidate\r\nQualifications & Skills:\r\nRequired (education/experience/skills/competencies):\r\nCandidate must be a US Citizen with an active TOP SECRET clearance\r\nPreferred\r\n5-7 years in a Security Operations environment.\r\nExperience with Cyber Threat Intelligence and interface with intelligence community.\r\nExperience with writing reports and making presentations to customers.\r\nCertifications In specific security technologies such as Fortinet, Arbor, Radware, Palo Alto, Cisco or Checkpoint.\r\nDemonstrated understanding of Denial-of-Service concepts and attack vectors, and mitigation options.\r\nDemonstrated proficiency in routing and networking skills, including the ability to:\r\nTroubleshoot BGP and BGP community strings\r\nReview and analyze packet captures\r\nTrace customers or attack traffic through our global backbone\r\nUnderstand and be able to modify policies/prefix lists on multiple router platforms\r\nTroubleshoot GRE Tunnels issues\r\nStay abreast of new attack vectors and interface with customers, other SOC engineers, and Ops Engineering regarding new vectors and mitigation techniques.\r\nExpert level knowledge and skills of at least one programming language (python preferred)\r\nSecurity industry certifications (examples):\r\nCISSP\r\nCRISC\r\nCISM\r\nSecurity+\r\nCCNA\r\nACIA\r\nCCNA\r\nCEH\r\nITIL Foundations\r\nCompensation\r\nThis information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data.
