This role is ideal for a hands-on accountant who thrives on getting into the details, building efficient processes, and leveraging modern tools to scale a finance function across a multi-country clinic network. The Assistant Controller will report directly to senior leadership and partners across the business to ensure accurate, timely, and insightful financial information.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nFinancial ReportingClose\n\nOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process end-to-end.\nPrepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.\nReconcile accounts, review journal entries, and resolve discrepancies independently.\nDeliver financial reporting packages to leadership with clear commentary on variances and trends.\n\nTechnical Accounting\n\nServe as in-house expert on accounting treatment for revenue recognition, accruals, intercompany activity across a multi-location and multi-country footprint, and other technical areas.\nResearch and document positions on new or complex transactions.\nMaintain accounting policies and ensure consistent application across the organization.\n\nSystemsTechnology\n\nAct as the finance system owner for Sage Intacct (or comparable ERP), including configuration, dimensions, reporting, and integrations with adjacent tools (AP automation, expense management, payroll, billing systems, etc.).\nIdentify opportunities to automate manual workflows and reduce close cycle time.\nBuild and maintain reports, dashboards, and data extracts; comfort with SQL, advanced Excel, or BI tools (Power BI, Looker, Tableau) is strongly preferred.\nLead or support finance technology evaluations and implementations.\n\nInternal ControlsCompliance\n\nMaintain and strengthen internal control procedures appropriate for a multi-location healthcare services business.\nEnsure compliance with tax, regulatory, and reporting requirements across jurisdictions, including US, Canada, and UK considerations.\n\nAuditExternal Partners\n\nManage the annual external audit, including preparation of schedules, workpapers, and responses to auditor requests.\nCoordinate with tax preparers, banking partners, and other external stakeholders.\n\nFinancial AnalysisBusiness Partnership\n\nProvide analysis to support pricing, location performance, capital decisions, and operational initiatives.\nPartner with operations and leadership to translate financial data into actionable insight.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful time in a senior accountant, accounting manager, or assistant controller role. Public accounting background is a plus.\nDeep working knowledge of US GAAP and month-end close mechanics.\nHands-on ERP experience required; Sage Intacct experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to configure, optimize, and report out of a modern accounting system.\nHigh technology aptitude: advanced Excel required; experience with SQL, BI tools, or scripting and automation (Python, Power Query, etc.) is a meaningful plus.\nExperience in multi-location, services, or healthcare-adjacent businesses is a plus.
