Benefits Compliance Analyst
Lone Star Legal Search has been exclusively retained to find a Benefits Compliance Analyst for a leading national retirement plan advisory firm serving small and midsize employers and their employees. The firm is looking for a compliance professional with strong health and welfare benefits experience to support its expanding advisory platform. This role reports to the Head of Legal & Compliance.Core Compliance & Regulatory ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities may include:Maintaining compliance manuals and policiesMonitoring state insurance lawsUnderstanding anti-rebating and compensation rulesManaging fee disclosure complianceConducting internal audits and testingReviewing billing practicesEnsuring proper documentation and disclosuresMonitoring permissible fee-based structuresReviewing benefits services agreementsQualificationsRequired:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.3–7+ years of compliance experience with substantial focus on health and welfare benefits or related insurance compliance.Certified Employee Benefit Specialist® (CEBS) certification, or willingness to obtain certification.Working knowledge of ERISA fiduciary principles and state insurance regulatory frameworks, including billing practices, broker compensation rules, fee disclosures, and anti-rebating laws.Experience managing multi-state licensing, appointments, renewals, and regulatory obligations.Preferred:Experience in a high-growth or high-volume environment.Experience advising on or reviewing fee-based benefits billing models and supporting benefits advisory platforms that intentionally minimize or eliminate commission-based compensation.Experience working at a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) that brokers health insurance or benefits services Exposure to regulatory scrutiny related to benefits fees, fiduciary status, or prohibited transaction issues.
