As a member of the Tool design department you ll get to support tool designs for manufacturing on F35 and Global Hawk.This position will serve on-site at Palmdale, CA Plant 42.ResponsibilitiesDesigns industrial machinery and equipment, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments required for production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.Basic Qualifications3+ years of Catia design experience (high proficiency in 3D modeling and detailing).Familiarity with Industry Standards related to Detailed Drawing Requirements, ANSI, ISO, etc.Knowledgeable in designing of castings, stampings and turned componentsGD&T knowledge (it s understanding and usage) in order to properly apply the rules to drawingsEfficient in writing, communication and ability to manage technical detailsProficient with Microsoft office products - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPointPreferred QualificationsReview and analyze specs, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.Develop and maintain 3D models and drawings of automotive powertrain components, sub-assemblies and modules, using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.Support in the design of testing and prototype fixtures, if necessaryPerform package studies given customer engineering requirements and engine environment detailsFollow internal procedures and standards including customer rules and drafting guidelinesCreate drawings/tolerance stack-up analysis/exploded views/models from supplied information such as sketches, marked prints, catalog references, layouts and other information supplied by Product Engineers.Design components from a variety of different manufacturing processes; castings, forgings, stampings, powdered metal, machine turned components, molded plasticsApply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to drawings.Generate drawings in accordance with industry design standards; ANSI, ISO, etc.Maintain drawings and models within SmartTeam databasePreparing for and participating in design reviews with the Engineering TeamParticipate in supplier and customer meetings to understand and implement needs from all sides still assuring functionality/feasibility/costCoordinates and chairs necessary job/task clarification meetings with local team members as necessaryApply Design for Manufacturing principles to simplify manufacturing functionsKeep track of lessons learned to share with other designers/engineering teamMust complete assigned tasks within the established project timelinesAbout PROLIMPROLIM is a leading provider of PLM, IoT and Digital transformation solutions to Global Fortune 1000 companies.
