Location: This position will be based out of the main office in Ishpeming, MI Company Description Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Upper Peninsula is an organization dedicated to creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers, and the community, we work towards the goal of helping every child in our program achieve higher aspirations, greater confidence, better relationships, avoidance of risky behaviors, and educational success. What’s the Job? Manage and coordinate one-to-one mentoring relationships in both Community-Based and Site-Based Facilitated Programs. Conduct interviews and assessments to match mentors and mentees. These take place in client homes. Provide ongoing support and guidance to matches and facilitate a variety of group activities. Maintain accurate records and documentation of mentorship activities. Provide responsive coaching, and draw solid conclusions based on information provided. Build and maintain relationships with diverse groups of individuals. What’s Needed? 32-40 hours per week. Typical working hours are 8 AM-5 PM M-F, evening and some weekend hours are required: two nights per week until 7 pm and approx. 1 weekend activity every couple of months. Relevant youth-serving experience or a bachelor’s degree/college coursework in social work or human service-related fields. Experience in volunteer management and program coordination. Must have a reliable car, driver’s license, and meet state-required automobile insurance minimums. Agency travel with your personal vehicle is required. An individual who is adaptable, organized, provides positive customer experience, multi-tasks, and has a passion for improving the lives of young people and our underrepresented youth. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
