As a Maintenance Technician, you will oversee mechanical reliability for the facility, providing essential support to the Plant and Production Managers regarding all mechanical maintenance operations.\nCore Responsibilities\nMaintain equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation that meets or exceeds OEE and quality standards.\nStrictly adhere to all established Lockout/Tag out safety protocols.\nTake initiative to identify and resolve unsafe conditions on production machinery to help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team.\nManage production equipment processing and keep accurate documentation for all process adjustments.\nProactively identify and correct inefficiencies within production equipment.\nExecute maintenance tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.\nOperate shop power tools safely to prevent injury to yourself or your colleagues.\nComplete all scheduled preventative maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager.\nTake initiative to address machine inefficiencies during routine preventative maintenance.\nReview operator feedback and checklists before starting preventative maintenance to ensure all causes of inefficiency are addressed.\nEnsure all production equipment is cleaned and restored to showroom condition following maintenance.\nContinuously assess equipment for potential improvements and tag components for repair or replacement per TPM guidelines.\nExecute equipment changeovers while minimizing production downtime.\nVerify that production equipment is operating safely and efficiently after every changeover.\nPerform general building maintenance tasks as requested by management.\nRecord all parts removed from inventory to maintain accurate SAP records.\nAlert the Maintenance Manager when parts stock reaches re-order levels.\nFinalize all documentation required for completed work orders.\nCollaborate with the Production Manager to suggest training topics and support employee development.\nFoster a culture of cleanliness to ensure the plant appearance consistently exceeds expectations.\nTroubleshoot and repair plant machinery, including blow molding and extrusion equipment, to help maximize overall equipment availability.\nAssist with the installation, wiring, and programming of equipment to ensure it meets operational specifications.\nDiagnose complex mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues on systems like robots and chillers to implement effective, long-term solutions.\nDemonstrate a solid understanding of machine processing and recipe management.\nDetermine the correct tools and equipment required for each specific task.\nCoordinate with external vendors or contractors as necessary.\nDrive operational improvements related to line speeds, spoilage, and downtime.\nMaintain clear communication with management and production staff regarding progress and improvement ideas.\nFollow all company safety policies, GMP practices, and Global Food Safety standards to ensure a compliant workplace.\nComplete additional projects or duties as assigned by management.\nQualifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED required; Technical School Certification is preferred.\n3-5 years of relevant manufacturing experience, ideally within plastics technology.\nAbility to communicate technical system issues clearly and effectively.\nStrong mechanical maintenance background with expert knowledge of hand and power tools.\nProven understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.\nProficiency with computer systems, specifically MS Office and SAP.\nStrong hands-on approach to problem-solving.\nAbility to work independently, identify issues, and drive improvements.\nCapacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing pressure.\nAbility to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them with minimal supervision.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills.\nFlexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and varying schedules as needed.\nPhysical ability to stand for long periods, move safely through the plant, climb ladders, lift 50-75 pounds, and work in extreme temperatures to ensure all equipment is properly maintained.\nAbility to operate a forklift and obtain necessary certification.\nCompensation and Benefits\nWeekly pay cycles.\nInsurance coverage available through Benefits in a Card (BIC).\nAccrue up to 40 hours of paid leave annually under the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act, with usage eligibility beginning 90 days after your start date.\n401(k) retirement plan with company matching for eligible employees who have completed one year of service (1,000 hours) and are at least 21 years old.
