Our engineering group ships real software thatthe business depends on every day, and we move fast.About the RoleOur storefront and internal applications are central to how HydroJug sells and operates, andwe need a senior front end owner to raise the bar on both. This role exists to lead the build-out and ongoing evolution of our headless Shopify storefront and the React/Nodeapplications our teams rely on — improving performance, conversion, and reliability whilesetting the front end standards the rest of the engineering team follows.You’ll be a hands-on senior contributor with real ownership: making architecture decisions,shipping production code, and mentoring through code review. You’ll also lead a small frontend team, managing their workload and helping them grow. You should be comfortableusing AI-assisted development tooling (Claude, Claude Code) as a core part of your dailyworkflow — we lean on it heavily and expect our engineers to be effective with it.Key ResponsibilitiesStorefront & Headless CommerceBuild and maintain performant, accessible front end experiences for our headless Shopify storefront. Develop and extend Shopify apps and storefront customizations using the Storefront and Admin GraphQL APIs. Own Core Web Vitals and conversion-critical UX across the DTC experience.Internal ApplicationsBuild and maintain React/Node applications used across the business.Integrate front end applications with backend data sources and APIs (REST and GraphQL).Partner with operations, accounting, and other teams to turn requirements into clean, usable interfaces.Standards & QualityEstablish and enforce front end architecture, component patterns, testing, and accessibility standards.Lead code reviews and mentor other engineers on front end best practices.Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.Required Qualifications5+ years of professional front end development experience, with a track record of shipping production applications.Deep expertise in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript, plus strong HTML/CSS fundamentals.Hands-on experience with headless commerce architecture and building or extending Shopify apps.Proficiency with Node.js and consuming or building APIs (REST and GraphQL).Practical experience using Claude or similar AI coding tools in a real development workflow.Strong eye for UX, performance, and detail.Ability to work on-site in Ogden, Utah.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting or working alongside large CPG or consumer brands.Familiarity with NetSuite (SuiteScript, SuiteQL, or NetSuite data integrations).Experience with data tooling (BigQuery, ETL pipelines) or ERP-connected applications.Background working across multi-channel retail or commerce environments.Success in the First 12 MonthsRamp quickly on our storefront and internal application stack and become a trusted, independent contributor.Take ownership of the headless storefront front end, delivering measurable improvements in performance and user experience.Ship meaningful features and improvements to internal applications that reduce friction for the teams who use them.Establish clear front end standards and raise overall code quality through consistent review and mentorship.Become a go-to technical resource for front end architecture and AI-assisted development practices.Location and ReportingThis is a full-time, on-site role based at our Ogden, Utah headquarters.
