You will design and implement control algorithms for grid-tied power conversion systems — from concept through deployment. Working closely with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers, you will develop the control strategies that make our inverters fast, reliable, and grid-compliant.\nRequirements:\n\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, and validate control algorithms for grid-tied inverter systems, including grid-following and grid-forming topologies\nImplement real-time control algorithms on embedded platforms (DSP, FPGA)\nDevelop and maintain simulation models (MATLAB/Simulink or similar) for controls development and validation\nSupport Typhoon hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing\nCollaborate with hardware engineers on system-level design, including protection schemes and fault handling\nParticipate in design reviews, validation testing, and field commissioning activities\nDocument control designs, test procedures, and results to support product development processes\nTroubleshoot and resolve control performance issues in the lab and field\nQualifications\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field\n5+ years of experience in controls engineering in the power electronics industry\nStrong background in grid-tied inverter control strategies (grid-following, grid-forming, current control loops)\nExperience implementing real-time controls on embedded platforms (DSP, FPGA — e.g., TI C2000, Xilinx)\nProficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for controls modeling and simulation\nSolid understanding of power electronics fundamentals (AC/DC, DC/AC converters, switching topologies)\nExperience with grid interconnection standards (IEEE 1547, UL 1741)\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\nPreferred\nExperience with grid-forming inverter control and virtual synchronous machine (VSM) implementations\nExperience with energy storage or BESS applications\nKnowledge of protection relay coordination and grid fault ride-through (LVRT/HVRT)\nBenefits\n401(k) with company matching\nMedical, dental, and vision insurance\nDisability and life insurance\nFlexible Spending Account (FSA)\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)\nPaid Time Off (PTO)\nTuition reimbursement\nEPC Power is an equal opportunity employer.
