Accredited Investors Wealth Management® is seeking a full-time Controller to help lead and evolve the firm’s internal accounting and financial reporting function. Fun is encouraged on most days ending in y.Who You Will Work WithReporting directly to the Managing Partner, the Controller works closely with the Executive Committee, Operations, HR, internal advisors, the firm’s shareholders, and a variety of external partners including CPAs and banks. This role will also supervise the firm’s bookkeeping functions (which could be internal or external) and plays a visible role in firm-wide financial accountability.Primary ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial OversightLead and continuously improve the firm’s full accounting function, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledgerOwn the monthly AR process end-to-end, including client fee calculations, invoicing, and collaboration with advisory teamsManage month-end and year-end close processes with a consistent and reliable reporting cadenceEnsure accurate financial statements and fully reconciled booksDesign, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policiesOversee payroll processes, including compensation changes in coordination with HRDevelop and supervise internal and/or external bookkeeping resourcesServe as a primary liaison with CPAs, auditors, and banking partnersReporting, Planning, & Financial InsightPrepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysesDeliver clear, timely financial reporting and insights to leadershipProvide visibility into cash flow, working capital, and overall firm performanceIdentify financial risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvementMaintain organized, audit-ready financial documentationShareholder & Banking RelationshipsSupport the firm’s shareholder financing program in coordination with banks and internal stakeholdersManage loan tracking, debt payments, and related financial recordsPrepare and deliver quarterly updates to shareholders regarding financing activitySupport quarterly distributions and the annual stock sale processServe as a resource to shareholders in understanding the financial aspects of ownershipWhat Success Looks LikeConsistent, timely month-end close and reporting, driven by strong ownership and attention to detailHigh confidence in financial accuracy and controls, supported by sound judgment and disciplined processesClear, actionable financial insights that help leadership make informed decisions, communicated in a straightforward and accessible wayWell-managed and transparent shareholder financing processes, with proactive communication and follow-throughIncreasing influence across the firm through accountability, initiative, and a focus on continuous improvementWhat You OfferBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, 3+ years of experience in a Controller role is preferred but not requiredStrong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operationsExperience in financial services, wealth management, or professional services environments preferredStrong analytical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracyClear and effective communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non-financial stakeholdersDemonstrated ownership, accountability, and ability to operate independently in a high-expectation environmentInterest in building and improving processes, not just maintaining themWhat We OfferAccredited Investors Wealth Management® offers a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees professionally and personally.Our core benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, along with a 401(k)-plan featuring generous employer contributions and match. The maximum profit-sharing payout is up to 7.5% of eligible earnings through five years of service, increasing to up to 15% thereafter.
