This entry-level role is ideal for a developer early in their career who is eager to learn and grow while supporting justice-related systems. Under the guidance of senior developers, you will assist with maintaining legacy systems and developing enhancements that support our Justice partners. The role focuses on Microsoft-based technologies, browser-based applications, and foundational integration work across multiple platforms and databases. This position will remain open until filled.\r\nResponsibilities\r\n\r\nAssist in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of applications on the Microsoft .NET platform\r\nSupport business-critical systems using Rocket UniVerse and MS SQL databases\r\nHelp develop and maintain browser-based applications\r\nPerform maintenance and minor enhancements to legacy Visual Basic and C# (C-Sharp) codebases\r\nAssist with developing and supporting APIs and basic application integrations\r\nTroubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues with guidance from senior staff\r\nCollaborate with team members, analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions\r\nFollow established best practices for coding, testing, documentation, and change management\r\n\r\nJob Requirements\r\nRequired Qualifications\r\n\r\n0-2 years of professional software development experience (or equivalent internships/education)\r\nFoundational experience or coursework in .NET technologies\r\nBasic understanding of relational databases such as MS SQL\r\nExposure to Visual Basic and/or C# applications\r\nFamiliarity with APIs and application integrations\r\nBasic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript\r\nIntroductory experience with web application development\r\n\r\nSoft Skills Required\r\n\r\nWillingness to learn and take direction from senior developers\r\nStrong interpersonal and teamwork skills\r\nCuriosity and interest in problem-solving and technology\r\nWritten communication skills, including basic documentation and summaries\r\nOral communication skills for one-on-one and small group discussions\r\nAbility to ask questions, seek clarification, and accept feedback\r\n\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\n\r\nExposure to Rocket UniVerse (academic or professional)\r\nIntroductory familiarity with Unix or AIX environments\r\nBachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field\r\nBasic awareness of IIS (Internet Information Services)\r\n\r\nSkills & Competencies\r\n\r\nFoundational problem-solving and debugging skills\r\nAbility to follow established development standards and processes\r\nComfortable working with guidance in both legacy and modern technologies\r\nGrowing ability to manage tasks independently while contributing to a team\r\n\r\nJohnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions.
