After analyzing the reported malfunction and determining the level of repair needed the employee will notify his or her supervisor and begin the repair process. These repairs include but are not limited to wiring, controls, components replacement and or control modifications that are needed to bring the equipment back to its safe and compliant operation. The employee will be tasked with providing a detailed summary of repairs and or control updates, and will request that any spares used be evaluated for replenishment. Employees will work with facilities and or automation engineers to evaluate failed components. Together they can determine if OEM or a certified repair process for component rebuild/refurbishment is a viable option.\n\nDetermines proper method of removing covers or machine guarding to gain access to components for testing and repairs. Removal or installation of electrical cabinets and guarding must be done by following industry applicable safety protocol.\n\nDiagnoses, troubleshoots and determines proper method for repair or replacement of failed components. Submits information to supervisor or facilities office for approval of subsequent repair or necessary purchases.\n\nInstallation and maintenance on electrical equipment that powers factory machinery such as lathes, multi‑axis drilling and milling machines, paint booths, automated assembly and layup robots, electric welders, and items of similar complexity.\n\nAbility to work from work orders, service requests, blueprints, wiring sketches and electrical schematics. Utilizes verbal information from senior employees in your field of expertise, maintenance supervisors and or facilities engineers.\n\nOnce repair or installation is complete, the employee will test equipment to ensure safety, performance, and accuracy meet requirements before turning over to end users. Responsible for reporting mechanical problems to the supervisor and locking out unsafe systems. Proactive in proceeding with necessary repairs utilizing relevant safety protocols. Reviews schematics, writing diagrams, performance specifications and manufacturing manuals to become familiar with the design and operating requirements of the equipment and the multi‑purpose electronic and/or electro‑mechanical controls systems.\n\nAbility to set up and operate a variety of highly sensitive and precise electronic test tools and equipment. Conduct functional and operation testing on electrical equipment. If the repair was performed on a machine or robot the employee will need to operate the controller in order to run necessary cycles and calibration routines. The intent of this equipment cycling is to ensure the equipment is ready to be turned over to production.\n\nWhen asked the employee will be responsible for assisting with the planning of upcoming installations, repairs, and PM’s of electronic and/or electro‑mechanical equipment. Performs preventive maintenance utilizing work orders and relevant schematics and user manuals.\n\nAbility to make critical adjustments during troubleshooting and testing events. These adjustments can include but are not limited to changes to ladder logic, parameter settings, PLC programming and other electrical components. These changes will be to properly sync, align and tune highly sensitive inter‑related circuits and electro‑mechanical systems.\n\nEstablishes arrangement and location of components to eliminate electronic interference. Assures component placement allows for proper heat dissipation and provides safe access for PM’s and maintenance.\n\nAnalyzes and repairs as needed automatic control instruments and related recording devices used in the operation of industrial manufacturing equipment such as ovens, furnaces, clean rooms and autoclaves.\n\nAdjusts mechanisms controlled by the above devices.\n\nMaintains logs and reports necessary for preventive maintenance and service records. Communicates with management and supervision by verbal, written and electronic means.\n\nExamines malfunctioning electrical equipment and determines if repairs or replacement parts are needed, disassembles and takes parts to repair shop. Makes changes to motor windings for speed and voltage changes.\n\nAssists with other maintenance duties as assigned.\n\nJOB REQUIREMENTS\n\nThe ability to read and interpret all types of maintenance blueprints and specifications, use of shop mathematics.\n\nUtilizes precision measuring instruments such as multimeters, voltmeters, clamp meters, power monitors and other tools and gauges used to analyze and repair electrical components.\n\nRequires a broad shop trade knowledge of electronic and electro‑mechanical industrial equipment control systems together with a good knowledge of the theory involved and an understanding of the equipment controlled by the systems.\n\nUses appropriate PPE, tools and proper clothing requirements when working on and around electrical panels and components. Demonstrates a commitment to following safe procedures and adheres to safe repair practices.\n\nWillingness and ability to instruct and assist less experienced electricians and electrical mechanics.\n\nA physically demanding role with exposure to loud noises, potential hazards, and often dirty environments, requiring the use of protective gear, frequent standing, lifting heavy parts, and working in tight spaces.\n\nWhat YOU must bring to Succeed:\n\nHS Diploma/GED equivalent\n\nMinimum of 3-5 years of related work experience.\n\nPreferred Characteristics\n\nHands‑on experience with Siemens and FANUC NC, PLC, and HMI systems. Experience with ladder logic.\n\nPrior use of AutoCAD Electronics toolbar for schematic creation.\n\nExperience performing electrical work in a large industrial setting.\n\nFour (4) years of hands‑on experience with electrical control components for automation and numerical control equipment.\n\nAbility to run laser trackers for multi‑axis machine alignment.\n\nStrong communication and team building skills with experience supporting and modifying controls and alignments of multi‑axis drilling equipment, and large CNC milling machine.\n\nUnderstanding working knowledge of autoclave controls and process on both electric and gas fired units.\n\nA journeyman’s electrician license that is current with the State of Maryland.\n\nSalary for this role: $38.00 per hour.
