Validation Engineer

12 Months Contract (T4)Markham, ON, CANADASystem Design Engineer (Lab Management and Validation) – ContractLocation: Markham, CanadaDepartment: EngineeringRole OverviewThe System Design Engineer will assist the Platform GPU Validation Lab Management team in organizing, operating and maintaining a lab environment suitable for GPU Validation activities, with specific setups for each IP group as well as engaging with cross-functional teams in hardware (design, architecture) and software (drivers, SBIOS/VBIOS, diagnostics, tools) to establish, document, and review the deliverables/requirements for the GPU verification efforts.Key ResponsibilitiesSource, track, and distribute silicon for testingMaintain and audit lab assets to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with health and safety standardsRecommend optimal lab space design and initial setup for compliance and functionalityConfigure and build PC platforms tailored to specific IP groupsProcure and distribute hardware/software required for lab operationsTrain teams on specialized testing equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, data analyzers)Developing knowledge of system architecture/debug and other IP'sConducting qualification and validation work based on test plan, use cases, and technical requirementsDebug of issues found during pre-silicon, bring up, validation, and production phases of SOC programsWorking closely with supporting teams in design, diagnostics, emulation, firmware, and driver to ensure readiness for first silicon arrival, enablement of functionality, and debug of critical features.Leading collaborative technical discussions to drive resolution on technical issues and roll out technical initiativesPreferred Experience:Strong programming/scripting skills (eg. C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python)Experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.Experience with board/platform-level debugKnowledge of physical and protocol levels of common high-speed interfaces an assetKnowledge of PC architecture is an assetMust have excellent written and verbal communication skillsMust excel in a dynamic team working environmentLeadership and mentoring skills are a definite assetProject management skills, including planning, execution, and reportingMust be a self-starter and be able to independently drive tasks to completionExperience in machine learning, data science, computer vision and statisticsAbility to be flexible in terms of responsibilitiesAcademic Credentials:Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Related Field
