A better future?\n\nWe're Lear For You.\n\nADVANCED PACKAGING ENGINEER\nSOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN – WORLD HEADQUARTERS – IN-PERSON\n\nAs a member of the packaging team, the Advanced Packaging Engineer will be responsible for supporting and developing packaging solutions that support new and ongoing automotive programs. This position focuses on pre-source quoting, identifying and developing returnable packaging suppliers, and managing our Lear Packaging Approval System (LPAS).\n\nThe Role:\nYour work will include, but not be limited to:\nAdvance Packaging Engineer is responsible to support early-stage program development through pre-source program quoting, supplier engagement, and management of LPAS (Lear Packaging Approval System).\nThis includes all activities related to the planning, budgeting, design, procurement, and management of both returnable and expendable packaging for a variety of automotive seating components.\nAdditional responsibilities include supporting new product launch teams and meetings, driving continuous improvement, analyzing engineering drawings and specifications of packaging, and collaborating with cross-functional organization to manage new packaging launches.\nEnsure packaging solutions meet customer, quality, safety, and sustainability requirements.\nSupport cost modeling, tooling investment analysis, and ROI evaluations for packaging programs.\nMaintain accurate packaging documentation, standards, and change control throughout the program lifecycle.\n\nAdvantages of working at Lear in the Packaging group:\nHigh visibility role with exposure to cross-functional teams including Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Program Management.\nOpportunity to support new product launches and influence packaging strategy early in the program lifecycle.\nHands-on experience with both returnable and expendable packaging across multiple programs and regions.\nCollaborative environment with autonomy to manage projects and make meaningful impact.\n\nYour Qualifications:\nBachelor in Packaging, or Related Study\nAbility to work cross-functionally with Plant Staff, Sales, Purchasing and Program Management\nCoordinate and manage packaging activities with multiple regions when necessary\n2-3 years of experience with Logistics in Relation to Packaging\nStrong social skills, ability to communicate to all levels of Management\nExperience with Just in Time (JIT) Manufacturing\nMicrosoft Office (Excel)\nAbility to travel up to 20% of the time\n\nBonus If You Have:\n3 Years working experience in Automotive Packaging\nContinuous Improvement Background\n\nLear Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to a diverse workplace.\n\nApplicants must submit their resume for consideration using our applicant tracking system.
