Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Custodian Date Posted: 5/26/2026 Location: Bordentown Regional School District Date Available: 07/01/2026 Closing Date: Until filled BORDENTOWN REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Head Custodian Position The Bordentown Regional School District is seeking a reliable and experienced Head Custodian to oversee the cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and daily operations of an assigned school building. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, take pride in maintaining a safe and well-kept environment, and support the educational mission of the district. Start Date: July 1, 2026 Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise, assign, and coordinate daily work of custodial staff in accordance with contractual guidelinesMaintain the cleanliness and sanitation of classrooms, restrooms, offices, cafeterias, and common areasOversee building operations including minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and monitoring of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systemsAssist with setup and breakdown for school and community activitiesMonitor inventory of custodial supplies and equipment; submit orders as neededEnsure proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals in compliance with Right-to-Know (RTK) and Hazard Communication standardsConduct routine inspections to identify safety hazards and address issues promptlyAssist with emergency procedures including fire drills, lockdowns, and severe weather situationsOversee snow removal and ice control, including early morning or overtime assignments as neededMaintain building security by opening/closing the facility and responding to alarms when necessarySupport district facilities staff during summer cleaning, special projects, and emergencies Qualifications Include:High school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of three (3) years custodial or facilities experience; supervisory experience preferredDemonstrated leadership ability and strong organizational skillsKnowledge of building systems and custodial best practicesValid New Jersey driver's license requiredBlack Seal Low Pressure Boiler License required (or willingness to obtain within contractual timeframe)Ability to use custodial equipment and perform minor maintenanceAbility to work flexible hours including evenings and overtime as neededMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding workAbility to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions Additional Requirements:Satisfactorily completed criminal history check, including fingerprinting (at employee's expense) Apply online at www.bordentown.k12.nj.us under employment.
