We are searching for a Structural Project Engineer to join our team in Brentwood, TN.\nSUMMARY\nCandidate must possess significant experience in the design and documentation of complex medium to large building structures for commercial, institutional, mission critical, educational, aviation, or healthcare projects. The position requires the management of design team members and working with Project Manager, Senior Project Managers, Associate Principals and Principals in the delivery of projects including delivering required project documentation and calculations. The position will have direct interaction with clients and has great potential for position advancement and continuing career development.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nThe essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:\n\nTechnical\nPerforms work generally under the direction of a licensed professional engineer and in concert with other Project Engineers, Senior Project Engineers, Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Associate Principals, and above.\nPerforms structural analysis and design through hand calculations or computer modeling, as directed\nAssists in structural detailing\nResponsible for all technical aspects of assigned tasks and projects\nAssists Sr. Project Engineers and Project Managers in:\nSelection of project materials and structural configurations\nPreparing general notes and selection typical details for projects\nPreparing structural specifications from Master Specifications\nCoordinating structural design with architectural and other engineering disciplines\nDelivering project documentation and calculations on schedule and within budget\nProvides construction contract administration services including answering RFI’s, reviewing shop drawings and submittals\nPerforms site observations and prepares written reports of observations\nAuthors reports of diagnostic investigations and other studies\nMay support other project engineers on larger projects\nContinuously review work and processes to improve efficiency\nConducts peer reviews of other projects\nSeals own work and work of others under direct supervision\nDevelops and presents content for internal technical training\n\nManagerial\nAssists with creating project work plan including tasks with budgeted time for each task and assists in managing team workload\nMay be involved in the design of multiple projects simultaneously\nAssists in planning and leading structural design work sessions, both internal and external\nAssists in managing and directing design team members to a successful project completion\nAssists in coordinating tasks for design team and reviews work for acceptance\nMay assist leadership in staff performance evaluations\n\nClient Liaison\nAttends client meetings as requested\nDocuments and reports meeting discussions\n\nBusiness Development\nEngages counterparts with external project contacts and develops and grows networking relationships\nAttends networking events, open houses, and industry events\nAssists in developing work plans for project pursuits\nMay participate in project pursuit interviews\n\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)\n\nEducational, Experience and Licensing Requirements\nBS in Architectural or Civil Engineering (with structural emphasis) from an EAC/ABET accredited program, required\nMS in Architectural or Civil Engineering (with structural emphasis) from an EAC/ABET accredited program, preferred\nMinimum of six (6) years of experience (may be reduced with MS degree and/or SE license)\nMust have been conferred a PE license in state of residence (structural designation)\nSuccessful completion of the NCEES Structural Engineering exam (16 hours) preferred\nExpert in Bentley RAM Structural System or Tekla Structural Designer (TSD) and related program modules\nAutodesk Revit and BIM 360\n\nSkills\nMust have strong working knowledge of applicable building and reference codes\nMust possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs\nMust have experience working with concrete, post-tensioned concrete, steel, masonry, and wood\nDemonstrates a sound working knowledge of current role and the impact the role has on other business functions with the organization\nSkills to identify and resolve potential problems by timely gathering and analyzing information\nAbility to follow detailed procedures to ensure accuracy of work\nEffectively communicates in a timely and clear manner to internal and external stakeholders\nProactively solve problems without immediately looking for outside help\nDemonstrates strong interpersonal relationship skills\nInclination to be a team player who shares key information with others involved in a project and with colleagues\nContinuously learning and improving skills and stays current on trends within our industry\nAbility to set high standards and demonstrate excellence, ensuring quality in every aspect of work performed\nTakes personal responsibility and ownership of one’s work and self-initiates corrective action when needed\nRemains positive during times of adversity\nDemonstrates desire to mentor and share knowledge\n\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT\nSubstantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.\nManual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.\nClose vision (Clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision.
