Work is performed under the direction of a Supervisor.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nLeadership:\nDemonstrates an understanding and reflection of the City's mission, vision, and values and a commitment to achieve organizational goals aligned with the City's strategic plan\nChampions a high-performance work culture that encourages and embraces new ideas, develops individuals and welcomes and encourages diverse perspectives\nArticulates strategic and innovative thinking and provides clarity to deliver superior services\nApproaches the job with enthusiasm and curiosity to promote a solutions-oriented work culture\nManagement:\nEffectively manages assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfillment of projects, tasks, and responsibilities\nFollows suggested procedures to assure the highest standards of risk management, employee safety and risk avoidance\nTechnical:\nOperates two of the following vehicles: front-loader, roll-off, claw, auto side-loader, and/or manual rear-loader used in the collection and transportation of solid waste, trash, brush, or recycled materials, to be determined by the Solid Waste Manager\nA minimum of one hundred sixty (160) hours of operation of each truck is required for the first year\nA minimum of eighty (80) hours of operation of each truck is required in each subsequent year to maintain classification\nOperates other solid waste collection equipment on a temporary, trainee, or emergency basis\nEnsures truck is operational, fuels truck, washes, greases, conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reports need for maintenance or repair of equipment to Supervisor\nFollows standard safety precautions in the operation of the equipment\nPerforms routine housekeeping on the assigned piece of equipment\nNotifies Supervisor of issues or concerns requiring attention\nTeaches trainee drivers the proper operation of the solid waste vehicles\nTeam Skills:\nSupports honest and transparent decision-making\nCollaborates with all team members in a way that builds upon ideas and takes personal accountability and ownership of projects, roles, and assignments\nOpenly exhibits a positive attitude, in words and action, and encourages others to do the same\nPerforms related work as required.\nEmergency Response Status: As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nEducation and Experience:\nHigh School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)\nOne year experience in the operation of commercial vehicles requiring a Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B\nPossession of a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nKnowledge of traffic rules and regulations\nKnowledge of the operation of commercial vehicles requiring a Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B\nKnowledge of the hazards of operation and of appropriate safety rules and regulations\nAbility to understand and carry out oral and written instruction and to work independently in the performance of regular duties\nBasic computer and/or tablet skills for effective operation and troubleshooting of routing equipment\nWork Environment & Physical Requirements:\nWork Environment: 5% inside a climate-controlled building; 95% outside which includes driving.\nPhysical Requirements: The job's essential functions require: sitting, standing, and walking eight (8) or ten (10) hours per day.
