The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated engineer with a versatile skill set who is comfortable working across many layers of technical depth. The person in this role will fully own the delivery of infrared camera subsystems to multiple concurrent programs. Previous experience with development of camera subsystems for integration into complex electro‑optical systems in fast‑paced and small‑team environments is preferred.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nOwn development of visible and thermal infrared camera subsystems including generation of technical specifications and interface control documents (ICDs), trade studies, vendor technical management, performance characterization and testing, and failure mode and root cause analysis.\n\nDefine camera test requirements, pass/fail criteria, and test strategies, partnering closely with the hardware and test engineering teams to ensure infrastructure meets subsystem needs.\n\nDefine parameters for camera environmental qualification campaigns, including radiation testing and thermal environmental stress screening (ESS), reviewing test data and acting as the technical authority on camera subsystem health.\n\nSupport subsystem and instrument‑level testing, including environmental (vibration, thermal‑vacuum (TVAC) testing and system characterization/V&V.\n\nContribute to the continuous improvement of best practices, processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in instrument development.\n\nCollaborate and communicate effectively with instrument and spacecraft systems engineers, data scientists, AI&T and production teams, and program managers.\n\nQualifications\n\nB.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in an engineering field, or equivalent experience.\n\n5+ years of experience working in a multi‑disciplinary environment, with demonstrated experience with imaging systems and infrared remote sensing instruments.\n\nSoftware skills in one or more languages (e.g. Python, C++).\n\nExperience working with precision optical and mechanical metrology equipment.\n\nExperience with root cause analysis efforts including data analysis and testing.\n\nExperience performing data analysis, post‑processing, and test report generation for optical component and camera system performance.\n\nExcellent communication, presentation, and organization skills.\n\nExcited to work in a fast‑paced environment with new challenges each week.\n\nNice‑to‑have Skills\n\nExposure to design and analysis of optical components and systems.\n\nExperience with risk management, including risk tracking and development and implementation of mitigation plans.\n\nExperience working in cleanroom environments.\n\nSalary\nThe salary range for this role is $184,000 - $202,000 plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package.
