This includes the overall health, operations, security, and efficient operation of the network infrastructure. Additionally, the Network Engineer will be responsible for core infrastructure design and implementation using industry best practices. Communicates system change control, disruptive otherwise, through formal change management process. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive data including access, account access, and other forensic information. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.\r\nJob Functions:Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, manage and upgrade network infrastructure and associated devices.\r\nTroubleshoot network connectivity problems, including monitoring the network for problem, diagnosing problems, and taking the appropriate corrective measures to ensure an expedited resolution.\r\nEnsures network security by proper user accessibility, and being able to reasonably guard against threats to security that will face the network.\r\nPerform preventative maintenance on the network, along with monitoring performance of other local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).\r\nReceive and respond to incoming requests regarding network operations and/or problems.\r\nEvaluate network to identify issues, assess network health, propose changes, perform impact analysis of proposed changes, and assist with required remediation.\r\nAssist with implementing and supporting network management solutions, and tools, designed to improve our security posture and simplify management complexity.\r\nPerform regular network health assessments to identify, document and address areas for improvement.\r\nProvides after hours (24x7) on call support on a scheduled rotation; General office and hospital environment; moderate levels of stress may occur at times.\r\nAssess network monitoring setup, propose changes to comply with best practices and court requirements, and implement approved changes.\r\nAssist in creating and maintaining network diagrams and documentation to ensure they are current and accurate.\r\nManage external vendor relations and coordinates all vendor management tasks to ensure enterprise-wide needs for due diligence, risk assessment and continuing vendor monitoring.\r\nAssumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.Minimum Education/Experience Required:Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent work experience required.\r\nMinimum of 2 years of experience in network administration required.\r\nMinimum of 1 year of experience with Cisco IOS, switches, and firewalls preferred.Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.\r\nAbility to manage multiple projects.\r\nAbility to communicate effectively with team members and hospital staff.\r\nAbility to multitask.\r\nKnowledge of current and future practices, terminology and principles of networking and information technology.\r\nNetwork systems hardware and software management.\r\nContinuity of operations practices relating to local area networks, and connectivity to wide area networks.\r\nCustomer service practices that are required to meet and exceed end-user expectations.\r\nProvide recommendations, develop and maintain documentation.\r\nSolid theoretical knowledge and hands on experience configuring, troubleshooting, optimizing and managing most of the following hardware/software technologies & protocols.\r\nExperience with policies and rules W/ CISCO ISE.
