Our Space Systems business designs and builds our extensive line of satellites, payloads, and their components, including spacecraft that have been selected to support NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and components used on the James Webb Space Telescope.SUPPLY CHAINRocket Lab’s Supply Chain team is responsible for the flow of all materials, products, and components through the business. With many of our own products functioning as critical components to our own and our customers’ missions, the Supply Chain team has a direct impact on the success of our rocket and satellite programs. They set up the assembly kits that enables our technicians to put together our Electron & Neutron rockets, manage inventory, look after shipping and receiving, manage direct and indirect procurement, and inspect and ensure that all of our materials and products are compliant and up to standard. They are the chain that links our teams together, and are critical to our success.DRIVER IIBased out of Rocket Lab's launch facility in Wallops Island, VA, the Driver will join our shipping and receiving department. In this role, you will be responsible for activities related to the movement of materials or finished goods throughout Southern California, as well as our Long Beach facility.What You’ll Get To DoEnsure the security and accountability of materials and goods to and from local business partners (within 120-mile radius) performing work for Rocket LabEnsure materials are available to meet production schedules and/or products are shipped as per sales/marketing schedulesEstablish and modify operational methods and procedures as necessaryPerform the physical or administrative tasks involved in the distributing of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment to local business partners as well as all Rocket Lab sitesLift heavy items and operate a forklift (once certified)Safely deliver and pick up material to and from local business partners and deliver to end usersHandle hazardous material in accordance with company proceduresEnsure traceability of all material and goods being transported through the use of ERP system and handheld devicesDriving material and goods between business partners and Rocket Lab owned warehouses locallyTracking material and goods within Rocket Lab tracking system as they travelCommunicating status of deliveries of material and goods as they travelAssist with urgent requests relating directly to our ability to meet production schedules and/or ship product as per sales/marketing schedulesAdhere to all local and state driving laws, company safety policies, and ensure safe handling of all materialsInteract professionally with suppliers and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholdersAddress and resolve any issues that arise during pickups or deliveries promptly and effectivelyYou’ll Bring These QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent and 2+ years’ experience, with some experience also driving company owned vehicles.Valid CDL driver’s license with no history of suspensionsThese Qualifications Would Be Nice To HaveCurrent Forklift CertificationMaterial handling experience preferredExperience with heavy equipment (sit down and stand up forklifts) preferredModerate to extensive experience driving large vehiclesRelated experience in shipping and receiving preferredBasic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work on multiple tasksAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizationAbility to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distanceAbility to deal with variable situations and make good decisions based on business needsFamiliarity with freight carriers such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, and common truck carriersExperience in a customer service environmentAdditional RequirementsAbility to lift up to 60 lbs. unassisted on a regular basis.Ability to push and pull on a regular basis up to 60 lbs.Ability to drive large vehicles on public and private roads with minimum incidents.Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.Ability to stand and walk for sustained periods of time.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
