Worship Director

Title: Worship DirectorReports To: Executive DirectorSupervises: Tech Director, Worship Team, Worship support staffPurposeThe worship director will design and produce Shepherd’s Gate worship experiences, leading the worship arts staff and the worship production teams and creating alignment with multiple ministry departments.Responsibilities and DutiesPursue a deep relationship with God through worship and prayer. Connect in community with other followers of Jesus, influence our world for Him, and lead others to do the same.Responsible for the worship experience and the presentation, flow, and production of all aspects of the worship service.Champion a high level of excellence, attention to detail, advance planning and creativity in worship production.Lead the creative planning process to design worship services that best engage people, enhance message themes, and align with the ministry focus of Shepherd’s Gate.Utilize the creative arts such as music, visual media, and other art forms for engaging worship.Oversee the worship department staff to ensure the staff and their teams are healthy, growing and performing.Coordinate in advance with the lead pastor and teaching team to align worship services with message themes and the preferences of the speaker and pastoral leaders.Coordinate with guest services leaders and offer guidance for the smooth operation of guest services as required in relation to worship services.Coordinate with the communication department for the production of videos, announcements, promotion of services, and similar items.Ensure timely worship production for all weddings, funerals, and other special events.Help the Executive Director develop and maintain the worship ministry budget.An area of expertise/experience is preferred (musician, vocalist) to contribute regularly to the ministry of worship.Serve as a member of a team that seeks to impact the world with the love of Jesus.Attends All-Staff meetings (approximately 3 times a year).All other responsibilities as agreed upon with direct leadership and/or Lead Pastor.LeadershipMust be a motivator of people and be able to lead with a humble heart.Knowledgeable to lead and equip a variety of volunteers within worship ministry.Be accessible and have an open-door policy with staff and volunteers.Attends all meetings required by the position.Be present during major church holidays, services and events being mindful to try and take vacations during slower seasons of the church year.Core CompetenciesBe cooperative, considerate, and a good communicator.Works well in a team environment.Able to work in a fast paced, purpose driven environment.Able to keep confidentiality when dealing with staff, members, and volunteers.Needs to be neat and orderly in appearance.Open to constructive feedback and show flexibility.Able to troubleshoot challenging issues.Be able to address conflict and tension with grace.Christian LifeMust be an active and growing member of Shepherd’s Gate Church by attending worship faithfully, being involved in a small group, serving others regularly, and giving joyfully and sacrificially as the Lord leads.Job SpecificHas a vision for creative and engaging worship services.Able to lead staff and grow teams.Able to oversee and lead the various aspects of worship production.Competent worship leader and musician.Able to lead effective and efficient meetings.Ability to “read the room” and optimize worship service environments and plans accordingly.Knowledgeable to give directions in the areas of sound, video, music, and lighting.Able to work and plan in advance, not last minute.Technology SkillsDemonstrates basic competency in common software programs including word processing, spreadsheets, calendar, and video conferencing.Familiar or willing to learn SG specific software applications, including Planning Center Online, Basecamp, Microsoft Teams, Propresenter, Logic, and Multitracks.Education LevelBachelor's degree and 5 years relevant experience preferred.
