This role provides day-to-day leadership for facility operations, maintenance activities, personnel, contractors, and regulatory compliance while ensuring maximum biogas production, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency. The Operations Supervisor works closely with farm management, utility partners, equipment vendors, and company leadership to meet production and environmental goals.\nKey Responsibilities Operations Supervisor\nOversee the daily operation of two dairy digester facilities.\nMonitor and optimize biogas production, methane quality, and renewable natural gas (RNG) or electricity generation.\nEnsure all process equipment operates safely and efficiently.\nDevelop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).\nCoordinate daily operational schedules between both sites.\nMaintenance & Reliability\nPlan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance programs.\nCoordinate repairs with maintenance technicians and outside contractors.\nMonitor equipment performance, including pumps, mixers, boilers, compressors, flare systems, separators, generators, and gas upgrading equipment.\nMaintain inventory of critical spare parts and operating supplies.\nSafety & Environmental Compliance\nPromote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.\nConduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations.\nEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements.\nMaintain accurate operational logs and regulatory documentation.\nPersonnel Leadership\nSupervise and mentor operations and maintenance personnel.\nSchedule staffing to ensure adequate coverage at both facilities.\nConduct employee training and performance evaluations.\nFoster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nPerformance Monitoring\nTrack key performance indicators including:\nBiogas production\nEquipment uptime\nPlant efficiency\nDowntime events\nMaintenance costs\nSafety performance\nAnalyze operational data and recommend process improvements.\nBudget & Administration\nAssist with annual operating budgets.\nManage operating expenses while maintaining reliability and compliance.\nApprove work orders, purchase requests, and contractor services.\nPrepare operational reports for management.\nQualifications\nExperience in industrial operations, wastewater treatment, renewable energy, agriculture, or biogas production is a plus.\n2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.\nStrong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.\nKnowledge of pumps, motors, PLC-controlled equipment, and industrial process systems.\nValid driver's license.\nPreferred\nExperience operating anaerobic digesters or renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities.\nKnowledge of dairy operations and manure handling systems.\nOSHA safety training.\nExperience with SCADA systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).\nKnowledge of environmental permitting and compliance.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nStrong leadership and team management skills.\nExcellent communication and organizational abilities.\nAbility to prioritize multiple projects across two operating facilities.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office and operational reporting software.\nAbility to read mechanical, electrical, and process flow diagrams.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.\nAbility to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces with proper training.\nAbility to lift up to 50 pounds.\nAbility to respond to emergency call-outs outside of normal working hours when necessary.\nWorking Conditions\nThis position requires regular travel between two dairy digester sites.
