Interpretation will consist of but not limited to Education, legal, Medical, Environmental, and Social Services, etc. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.\n\nJob Responsibilities\nAccurately interpreting spoken work situations like lectures, conversations, and meetings.\nUtilizing technology to transcribe spoken English in some settings.\nReading the original document and translating it\nEditing translated versions.\nBeing sensitive to the culture of the original languages and the target languages during the translation process\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications:\nMinimum Job Skills and Qualifications\nMinimum Qualifications:\nHigh school/ BA Degree/ or equivalent in years of experience / MISS, RID certification/ \"Linguist title; Linguist Analyst, Language Control Manager”\n5+ /years, Language Liaison; Education, Medical, Environmental, Military Interpretation,\nRegistry of Interpretation for Deaf (RID), Board of evaluation of Interpretation certification program (BEI), World Association of Sign Language Interpreters.\nMust be comfortable interpreting for these organizations: National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI)Department of Social services (DSHS), Certified Health Interpretation (CHI), Federal courts, Legal, economic and World Bank.\nMust be fluent in one or more of the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Cantonese, Chin Hakka, Dari, Farsi/Persian, French, German, Gujarati, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Nepali, Pashto, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Tigrinya, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek, Vietnamese, and ASL.\nMust be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.\nMinimum Skills:\nThe ability to facilitate communication with discretion and impartiality.\nProficiency in oral and written communication\nA wide breadth of knowledge in a variety of topics\nStrong social awareness for interpretation with empathy and attentiveness\nThe ability to track and remember information and concepts while simultaneously interpreting them.\nPhysical stamina and dexterity for extended interpretation sessions\nMust possess problem-solving skills.\nProficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.\nHighly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.\nAbility to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.\nMust be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.\n\nReports to: Deputy Program Manager\n\nWorking Conditions\nProfessional office environment.\nOn-call as needed\nTranslator will be notified within 24 to 48 hours of potential jobs that come in and language is needed.\nMust be physically and mentally able to perform duties while standing for extended periods of time.\nAbility to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.\nMust be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.\nMust be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.\nMay be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.\nMay be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.\nMay be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.\n\nOther Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
