Learn more at www.esource.com\n\nAs a Principal Engineer, Grid Engineering and Interconnection, you’ll join the team that strengthens grid reliability, supports renewable integration, and advances grid modernization for our clients. You’ll work closely with utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), and independent system operators (ISOs) to deliver power system studies that inform real investment and reliability decisions, while coaching and growing a team of transmission planning engineers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of power system analysis, client delivery, and team leadership, brings strong judgment to complex technical problems, and wants to contribute to work that shapes real-world decisions in the energy industry.\n\nIn this role, you will:\n\nLead and mentor a team of transmission planning and interconnection study engineers\n\nOwn client relationships and delivery of interconnection, stability, and reliability studies\n\nOversee the quality of power flow, voltage stability, transient stability, and short-circuit analyses\n\nConduct studies in areas such as generator and load interconnections, transmission planning, and economic analyses\n\nPrepare and review technical reports and ensure deliverables meet client specifications for reliability, regulation, and quality\n\nManage project scope, staffing, cost, and schedule across a portfolio of concurrent engagements\n\nContribute hands-on to complex or high-impact studies alongside the team\n\nPartner with global colleagues to scale capacity and deliver consistent, high-quality work\n\nDrive business development by shaping proposals, scoping engagements, and identifying new client opportunities\n\nRepresent E Source with utilities, IPPs, and ISOs, translating technical findings for executive audiences\n\nYou’re likely a great fit if you:\n\nCan lead engineers while staying hands-on with the technical work\n\nBalance client delivery, team development, and technical quality across competing priorities\n\nCommunicate complex study results clearly to technical peers and executive stakeholders\n\nNavigate ambiguity and make sound judgment calls on scope, methods, and schedule\n\nCare about quality, reliability, and the growth of the engineering team\n\nAnd even better if you:\n\nHave prior consulting or client-facing power systems experience\n\nHold a master’s or Ph.D. in power systems engineering\n\nHave led studies across multiple ISOs (for example, ERCOT, MISO, CAISO, PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE, or SPP)\n\nHave contributed to open-source tools or published technical writing on transmission planning\n\nExperience and Skills to Qualify Include:\n\n10+ years of power systems analysis experience, including 3+ years leading engineers, projects, or client engagements\n\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering\n\nDeep proficiency with PSS/E for load-flow and transient stability analysis, and ASPEN for short-circuit analysis\n\nExperience with at least one additional planning tool such as PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, or DSA Tools\n\nProven experience leading stability studies, congestion analysis and cost modeling, or cluster feasibility studies across one or more ISOs\n\nWorking knowledge of synchronous generators, motors, power electronic inverters, wind turbines, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, and battery energy storage systems (BESS)\n\nWorking knowledge of reliability standards, interconnection processes, substation layout, and protection and control\n\nDemonstrated ability to manage client relationships and deliver on time and within budget\n\nStrong oral and written communication skills\n\nAt E Source, you’ll work alongside people who are thoughtful, curious, and deeply knowledgeable about utility and energy systems.
