Who You Are As the Analyst & Junior Developer you will work within the Data Science and Institutional Research (DSIR) Office and balance the responsibilities of both analyst and developer. You will be responsible for communicating effectively and working in collaboration with others. Also, you will collect, analyze, interpret, and share accurate and timely information to support institutional decision-making, planning, and reporting for Front Range Community College, Lamar Community College, and Otero College. In addition, you will demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and create strategy and creative solutions. You will need to have the SQL and Python technical skills to provide regular/ad hoc reporting, and to develop and maintain dashboards in Power BI. You will support the Director of DSIR in mandated reports such as IPEDS, SURDS, grant reporting, and other data-involved tasks as needed and must be able to manage time and adapt to changing requirements. Finally, you will be a part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to listening, translating questions into actions, willing to suggest new ideas/tools and or methods for improving processes, and loves turning raw data into storytelling with reports and dashboards to support all three colleges. While this position has some flexibility for work from home work, this position will require consistent campus presence. Designs and develops interactive, user-friendly dashboards using Power BI, SQL, and Python. Assists Director in delivering training to college departments on data analysis and interpretation as well as the use of analytic tools such as Cognos, MS Excel, and Power BI. Serves on a variety of internal and external committees for the purpose of communicating trends, developments, and issues to college and external constituencies.Database Development / SupportSupports strategic planning initiatives by developing efficient database systems for DSIR. Collaborates with team to identify, assess, and remedy process inefficiencies. Provides SQL, Python, VBA, and MS Access programming to develop and maintain repeatable and efficient reporting and dashboard capabilities. These tasks include, but are not limited to, ELT processes, data validation, error reports, streamlining operational workflows, and report creation. Writes and maintains Cognos reports using Cognos Report Studio. Writes clear and accurate procedures and documentation to enable easy maintenance and cross-training. Application Development / Support Assists Director in planning and designing new features and functionality for backend systems. Write and maintain code (Python, SQL, HTML and CSS) to support DSIR’s day-to-day operations. Troubleshoots bugs and unexpected behavior in code. Recommends possible fixes to the Director. Strategic Management Assists Director in developing and implementing strategic plans, objectives, and priority initiatives for the DSIR department. Proactively learns and researches existing and new technologies; recommends potential process improvements to the Director. Survey design, review and analysis in Qualtrics.\n\nSUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION\nRequired Education/Training & Work Experience: Graduated from a college/university with an associate degree with 2 or more years of experience in database development, data analysis, or related. ORBachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field with demonstrated experience in database development, data analysis, or related.ANDDemonstrated experience producing visually appealing Excel reports with tables and charts.Demonstrated experience interpreting data requests to produce final reports.
