This is the kind of project that requires seasoned professionals, strong judgment, and people who know how to operate inside complicated utility environments.Role OverviewPowerTek is seeking a Program Technical Advisor to serve as the senior technical lead on a major California power infrastructure program. This person will provide expert guidance on complex power system issues, support utility and interconnection-related decision-making, advise on technical delivery challenges, and help navigate grid, design, coordination, and approval issues that can materially affect project execution.This is a high-importance role. The ideal candidate combines deep power engineering credibility with hands-on experience in California utility environments, especially PG&E-facing interconnection and utility coordination work.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the senior technical lead across major power infrastructure program issuesAdvise on technical matters involving substations, switchyards, transmission, grid interconnection, and power system planningSupport technical decision-making that affects delivery strategy, approvals, schedule, constructability, and system performanceWork across program, engineering, and delivery teams to identify and resolve complex technical issuesSupport coordination involving utility standards, interconnection requirements, engineering review, and implementation constraintsHelp guide resolution of unconventional or schedule-critical challengesProvide senior technical input on project planning, program development, technical reviews, design approaches, and infrastructure upgradesSupport interface with external utility stakeholders where requiredHelp keep the program moving by anticipating technical bottlenecks and driving practical solutionsAbsolute Minimum RequirementsMinimum 15 years of Planning, Design, Engineering, and Construction experience on power systemsExperience must include substations, switchyards, and high-voltage transmission lines of 115kV or greaterMust have served as Engineering Manager or equivalent on at least one power or electric utility capital improvement program valued at $100 million or moreQualifying experience must be within the last 15 yearsMust possess a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of CaliforniaMust have a minimum of 3 years of experience working with Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) standards for interconnecting wholesale load at transmission or distribution voltage levelsMust be able to reside in the San Francisco Bay Area Must be available to work in person a minimum of four days per weekStrongly PreferredDirect experience with PG&E interconnection processes and utility coordinationExperience with power utility capital programs in CaliforniaExperience supporting transmission and distribution infrastructure in regulated utility environmentsAbility to solve difficult, non-routine technical issues with sound judgment
