This individual will play a critical role in ensuring high availability, data protection, and security compliance of all infrastructure supporting healthcare systems and sensitive data.The role includes provisioning infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code (IaC), maintaining system uptime, verifying database backups, and configuring systems to meet HIPAA security standards. The ideal candidate has experience working in regulated environments, is proactive with incident response and audit preparation, and can bridge the gap between engineering and compliance. Key Responsibilities:Design, implement, and manage AWS infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.Provision and maintain secure, fault-tolerant EC2 instances, databases, and networking components.Ensure daily and secure database backups are completed, verified, and stored in accordance with HIPAA retention and encryption requirements.Perform and document security audits to ensure compliance with HIPAA Security Rule, including access control, data encryption, and logging standards.Respond to infrastructure-related incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.Work closely with compliance and audit teams to maintain required HIPAA documentation, evidence collection, and risk assessments.Ensure continuous monitoring and alerting of critical services (e.g., CloudWatch, GuardDuty) to detect unauthorized access or system issues.Apply security updates, manage secrets, and enforce least-privilege IAM roles across AWS accounts. Required Qualifications:7+ years in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering roles.Expert-level knowledge of AWS, including EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, S3, and security services.Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.Experience working in a HIPAA-regulated environment, with understanding of the Privacy and Security Rules.Demonstrated ability to secure PHI and meet requirements such as encryption at rest and in transit, audit logging, and access controls.Strong scripting or automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).Effective communication skills for working with auditors and cross-functional teams.
