Our dynamic and inclusive culture fosters personal and professional growth, making us an ideal employer for career advancement.\r\nThe Technical Material Handler performs quality checks, makes necessary adjustments to process equipment and re-grinds materials.\r\nJob Duties\r\nEnsures forklift is fully operational and safe to operate by performing daily safety inspection.\r\nChecks machines to verify correct materials are being used and the proper silos are assigned to each machine.\r\nReviews production schedule for color and material changes.\r\nUtilizes maximum amount of re-grind without negatively impacting quality.\r\nPrepares materials for efficient changeover.\r\nPlans color changes and executes with minimal scrap.\r\nEnsures adequate quantities of re-grind are in machines for processing.\r\nRemoves unused re-grind from production area, weighs, tags and stores.\r\nRemoves and cleans vacuum filters on a daily basis.\r\nUtilizes Metal Gaylord's and dumper.\r\nTears down and cleans all hoppers, both volume metric and weigh scale.\r\nTroubleshoots, repairs and calibrates loading systems.\r\nPerforms quality checks at prescribed intervals to ensure proper color usage.\r\nMakes adjustments to process equipment to maintain and improve product quality.\r\nEnsures containers of reground material are clearly and properly labeled and stored.\r\nAssists in training new employees.\r\nMaintains work area in a neat, clean and safe condition.\r\nEducation and Experience\r\nSix months previous material handler experience in a manufacturing environment\r\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\r\nExcellent verbal communication skills\r\nAbility to obtain a company forklift certificate\r\nExcellent organizational and time management skills\r\nStrong mechanical aptitude\r\nKnowledge of re-grind preferred\r\nAbility to successfully complete the material handler training program\r\nAbility and willingness to work a flexible work schedule, including 12-hour rotating day/night shifts and overtime hours\r\nPhysical Requirements and Work Environment\r\nWork is performed in a manufacturing environment where there is exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, vibration and occasional work in high places\r\nAbility to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle and/or feel objects, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, talk, see and hear\r\nAbility to push, pull, lift, carry or otherwise move up to 35 pounds\r\nSchaefer Plastics is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
