Job SummarySetup and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments out of metal. Setup Machinists will load materials, tools, and programs into CNC machine equipment to prepare for production. Responsible for measuring dimensions of first-part completed to verify conformance to specifications. Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of the finished product. Applies knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to produce high-quality parts. A Setup Machinist works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function and has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.$5,000 Sign-on BonusScheduleMonday-Thursday | 4:00pm - 2:30am; Overtime as requiredDuties and Responsibilities/Essential FunctionsProficient in Machinist/Setup responsibilitiesSets up, services, and maintains equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.Selects and operates the appropriate tools to cut, shape, or finish metal, plastic, or composite material.Utilizes precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts.Documenting materials used and dimensions of productSmooth metal surfaces or edges using deburring equipment and techniques with a high degree of precisionMachinist Operator responsibilities plus making sure machine is set-up to run in a capacity that will be repeatable and consistent.Troubleshooting machine tools and processes to make parts conform to specifications.Ability to determine if a program needs to be updated or changed to meet current conditions.Read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to guide activities and ensure qualityUnderstand inspections of work completed, perform inspections and document deviations from engineering drawingFollow verbal, written, and electronic work instruction to complete tasksKeep daily production records and record pertinent manufacturing data where requiredLearn, practice and follow all safety standards and policies and ensure a safe operating environment, including use of appropriate protective equipment and identification of potential safety concernsMaintains a clean and organized work environment.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
