This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you will set the architecture and governance model for our Azure estate, lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, and act as the escalation point for platform design and delivery decisions across the enterprise and data center business. You will partner with Cybersecurity, Compliance and Business Systems leaders to ensure the platform is secure by design, audit-ready and cost-efficient. IREN's IT function supports a NASDAQ-listed, multi-country business spanning Bitcoin mining and AI/HPC data center operations, with a Microsoft-centric enterprise stack (Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Sentinel/Defender) and SOX and ISO 27001 compliance obligations.\n7+ years in DevOps, platform or cloud engineering, with at least 4 years designing and operating Microsoft Azure environments at enterprise scale.\nDemonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineers and owning technical delivery for a team.\nExpert-level infrastructure as code (Bicep and/or Terraform / OpenTofu) and CI/CD design in Azure DevOps and/or GitHub / GitLab Actions, including reusable module and pipeline libraries.\nDeep knowledge of Entra ID, Azure networking, Azure Policy/Management Groups, Landing Zones and Azure security services (Defender for Cloud, Key Vault / OpenBAO, Sentinel).\nStrong scripting and automation skills in PowerShell and Python, including Microsoft Graph and Azure REST APIs.\nProven experience operating platforms in regulated environments and producing audit evidence for SOX, ISO 27001 or equivalent frameworks.\nExperience with observability (Azure Monitor, KQL), SRE practices, and security policy governance and administration.\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to explain architecture and risk to both engineers and executives across time zones.\nMicrosoft certifications such as AZ-400, AZ-305 or AZ-500 are highly regarded; Terraform Associate is a plus.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).\nReporting to the Senior Manager, IT, the Azure DevOps Lead Engineer is responsible for:\n\nDefine and own the Azure / M365 platform architecture, Landing Zone design, governance model and DevOps standards for IREN.\nLead, mentor and develop other DevOps Engineers across IREN in Azure best practices, including work planning, code review, technical coaching and performance feedback.\nEstablish and enforce infrastructure-as-code standards, module libraries, branching and release strategies, and pipeline patterns across Azure DevOps and GitHub.\nOwn platform reliability: define SLOs, monitoring and alerting standards, on-call practices and incident/problem management for platform services.\nDesign and implement identity, network and policy controls (Entra ID, Conditional Access, Azure Policy, RBAC, private networking) in partnership with Cybersecurity and IT.\nLead security-by-design and compliance automation, ensuring pipelines and platform controls produce audit evidence for SOX and ISO 27001.\nDrive platform roadmap priority and technical debt reduction, evaluating new Azure services, automation and AI-enabled operational tooling.\nServe as senior technical escalation for complex platform incidents, root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews.\nManage relationships with Microsoft and key vendors, including licensing, support engagements and architecture reviews.\nCommunicate platform status, risks and decisions clearly to IT leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.\nAt IREN, we offer a highly competitive compensation package that includes base salary, annual performance incentives, and opportunities to build long-term wealth through equity programs.
