Director of Revenue Cycle Management

Read This FirstMost RCM job postings sound the same because most RCM jobs are the same. This one is not. If you are great at what you do and you have been waiting for a company that will actually let you run it, keep reading.About Mugen and the RoleWe are the #19 fastest-growing healthcare company in America according to Inc. 5000, and we got there by being unreasonably good at psychiatric services across the hardest care settings in Illinois. We move fast. We make decisions. We back our operators. Good ideas do not die in committee here, they get funded.Mugen’s growth is real, the revenue is real, and the gap between the function we have today and the function we need is real. The person who closes that gap gets to build a department around themselves, pick their own team, choose their own tools, and be the operator who is permanently associated with the moment Mugen’s revenue cycle got serious. You will own the revenue cycle. The whole thing. From eligibility through cash, including credentialing and payer enrollment. The role is fully remote, with quarterly in-person time in Chicago. You will report directly to the CFO, you will sit at the table where the real decisions get made, and your numbers will be the company’s numbers. You will not be inheriting someone else’s playbook. You will be writing one.If you have spent a few years quietly outperforming your title, this is the room with your name on the door.Who We Are Looking ForYou know Illinois Medicaid in your bones. HFS does not scare you, IMPACT does not surprise you, and you can name every MCO in this state along with their personality quirks. You have made commercial payers honor contracts they did not want to honor. You have rebuilt a denial workflow that turned into real cash you can point to.You have led teams, but you have not gone soft. You can still work a claim, read an EOB, and tell a payer rep exactly why they are wrong. You think in systems. You build SOPs that survive you. You have opinions about clearinghouses and scrubbers, and you want a job where those opinions actually translate into decisions. You are not looking for cruise control. You are looking for the wheel. What You Will OwnThe full revenue cycle: eligibility, prior authorizations, credentialing, charge capture, claims submission, payment posting, denial management, AR follow-up, and collections.Credentialing and payer enrollment across Medicaid, Medicaid MCOs, and commercial payers, with the Illinois-specific knowledge to actually move it (IMPACT, CAQH, MCO panel processes). The KPIs that drive the business. Revenue per Claim, Outstanding AR, Days in AR, Collection to Charge Ratio, and the data integrity underneath them.Your team. You will inherit a function and build it into a department, with the structure and talent that match where Mugen is going, not where it has been.Payer strategy and contract performance. The roadmap for automation and AI inside RCM. We are not nostalgic about manual work.QualificationsMinimum 7 years of progressive RCM experience in healthcare, with at least 3 in a leadership capacity.Direct, hands-on Illinois Medicaid and Illinois MCO experience is required. Meridian, Molina, Aetna Better Health, BCBSIL Community, CountyCare, Youth Care. If those names mean nothing to you, this is not your role.Behavioral health, psychiatry, or comparable multi-site healthcare experience.Working knowledge of provider credentialing and payer enrollment. Illinois-specific credentialing experience strongly preferred.A track record you can point to: AR aging you brought down, denial rates you closed up, collections you grew. Receipts matter.Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Accounting, or Finance. CRCR, CPC, or CPCS is a plus.Logistics and CompensationFully remote, with quarterly in-person time in Chicago. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision. 401(k) with employer match. Generous PTO.One Last ThingThis is not a posting for someone looking for a quiet seat. It is for the operator who has been outperforming their title and is ready for a company that will let them stop being quiet about it.
