Data Center Technician L2
Job Summary: Data Center Technician L2 (Reno, Nevada) Coordinate, schedule, and manage implementation, stand-up, decommission, break-fix, and maintenance activities in the data center. Monitor technical progress, track project deliverables, and participate in capacity management planning. Perform daily preventative walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness and organization of data center spaces. Receive, rack, stack, install, and troubleshoot all data center equipment (servers, network, storage, etc.). Respond to tasks via ticketing system, thoroughly documenting all activities. Assist with hardware maintenance, cabling design/installation, and configuration of IT assets. Manage equipment orders, returns, shipments, and maintain inventory/asset records. Create and update rack elevation and cabling diagrams, and maintain documentation. Provide vendor escort and support, and coordinate with infrastructure/facilities teams. Support end-to-end RMA process for various hardware vendors. Facilitate intra- and inter-data center asset transfers, and manage spare parts inventory. Deliver 24x7 support during high-demand periods and provide general customer support. Participate in audits, surveys, and daily operations meetings. Open, action, and resolve JIRA work tickets within SLA timeframes. Adhere to company safety policies and OSHA standards. Maintain flexibility to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Communicate operational standards and technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and travel as required. Perform other assigned responsibilities as needed.Required Qualifications 4 5 years experience in a data center or similar technical environment. 2 3 years experience in a customer service-oriented role. Ability to lift up to 70 pounds overhead. Working knowledge of data center management (power, cooling, cabling), networking concepts, and server operating systems (Linux, CentOS, DGX OS, etc.). Experience with major server and networking hardware (Supermicro, Dell, HPE, Arista, Mellanox). Technical inventory management experience (preferred). Valid driver s license and vehicle access. Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills. Willing to work flexible hours and participate in on-call rotations. Ability to travel locally or out of state as needed.Preferred Qualifications Associate s or bachelor s degree in a related field. 4+ years in a 24x7 production data center environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), JIRA, Netbox, and ServiceNow. Experience with Mellanox InfiniBand fabrics and products. Highly analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and reliable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for all organizational levels.
