This role supports all phases of design and delivery for projects of varying size and complexity, with a strong emphasis on technical excellence, multidisciplinary coordination, and mentorship of engineering staff.The Mechanical Engineer V demonstrates the ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously, collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, establish priorities, and direct the work of others. Typical responsibilities include technical planning, system design, documentation, field support, and quality oversight across the full project lifecycle.Project scope may include site selection and utility assessments, master planning, energy modeling, load calculations, commissioning and startup, code evaluations, system selection and specification, and coordination with manufacturers and trade partners. This role supports all levels of design, including feasibility studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.Core ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the execution of mechanical design and engineering work on advanced and complex projectsDirect, coordinate, and mentor mechanical engineers and designers across multiple experience levelsCollaborate with Project Managers on proposal development, scope definition, labor planning, scheduling, and resource forecastingPerform and oversee advanced mechanical system design, analysis, and documentation with minimal or no supervisionIdentify, assess, and resolve complex existing-condition challenges through site visits and field surveysProduce and review design narratives, reports, construction drawings, and technical specificationsProvide advanced construction-phase support, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and progress reportingPerform detailed quality reviews of calculations, drawings, and documentation to ensure technical accuracy and complianceDevelop and deliver internal technical training and knowledge-sharing initiativesConduct technical and leadership interviews and support talent development initiativesProvide technical leadership across offices and support initiatives related to business development, technical advancement, and vertical market growthContribute industry insight to help inform strategic decisions related to emerging technology, codes, and client needsQualificationsMinimum QualificationsABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus)Minimum of 15 years of relevant experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license in good standingExpert-level experience designing HVAC, mechanical utilities, and piping systemsAdvanced proficiency with applicable mechanical, plumbing, fire, and building codesAdvanced knowledge of industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, OSHA, etc.)Extensive experience conducting and leading field investigations and reportingProficiency with Microsoft OfficePreferred QualificationsProficiency with RevitExperience in Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Laboratory, or Food & Beverage facilitiesAdvanced knowledge of cGMP requirements and regulated environmentsLEED, WELL, or other sustainable design credentials, or equivalent experienceStrong experience coordinating across disciplines, trade partners, vendors, and manufacturersAdvanced troubleshooting experience with complex mechanical systemsAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.CRB is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
