Spang Power Electronics is headquartered in Mentor, OH, with sites in Sandy Lake, PA, and Xiamen, China. This position will be responsible for leading the development of and the team assigned to embedded software, including project management, software design, software/hardware integration, and internal/external customer technical support. We design and manufacture systems and products for industrial control applications all over the world, specializing in SCR Power Controllers, custom Transformers, and AC/DC Power Systems.\nPrimary responsibilities will include:\nLead the development of embedded software for digital power control systems using high power SCR's and IGBT's to generate both DC and AC output power.\nArchitect and implement firmware for real-time control on MCUs, DSPs, or FPGAs using C/C++ or similar low-level languages.\nManage and mentor a team of 2–5 engineers; conduct code reviews, performance evaluations, and provide technical coaching.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with hardware, systems, and product teams to define software requirements and interface specifications.\nDrive the adoption of best practices in embedded development, including version control, unit testing, and documentation.\nOwn the full software development lifecycle from concept to production and support.\nPerform debugging of complex embedded systems in lab environments.\nOccasional travel, up to 10%.\nQualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s Degree is preferred. 7+ years of experience in embedded software development, with at least 2 years managing or leading engineering teams; strong experience in digital control of power systems, including PID control, loop stability, and voltage/current regulation is required. Additional qualifications include proficiency in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems and experience with RTOS environments; familiarity with microcontrollers and digital signal processors such as TI C2000 and ARM Cortex-M; familiarity with embedded web servers such as lwIP, uIP, or similar stacks; hands-on experience with lab tools including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers; a strong understanding of power electronics concepts and control theory; and experience developing and maintaining embedded web interfaces using HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.\nSpang provides a full benefits package with one of the best 401(k) matching plans in the business, competitive salaries, and much more.
