Job Description In alignment with our company strategy to enable innovation, growth and productivity by digital and data capabilities, Human Health (HH) has created the Human Health Digital, Data and Analytics (HHDDA) organization. This central organization is focused on using digital, data, and analytics capabilities across the end-to-end commercialization process to drive data-driven decision making on behalf of our patients and customers. As HHDDA continues its transformation to bring premier capabilities to Human Health, we are seeking a dynamic talent for the role of Head of Commercial Data Science & GenAI capability. As the Data Science & GenAI lead, this individual will drive & demonstrate patient, customer & business values and deliver on digital data analytics transformation across HH through rigorous & innovative data science methodologies & setting enterprise data science standards & reusability and leading a thriving data science talent community across HH. This individual will lead a cross functional team on the development and scale-up of AI/ML/GenAI powered products in support of commercial data and analytics activities for our HH portfolio in collaboration with cross functional team members across the enterprise. The combined role will lead a global team of data scientists & external partners and will evolve the team over the next 2-3 years in line with business priorities. The role is based in Rahway, NJ, and will report to the Head of Data Science & Visualization for Human Health in the US. The scope is to cover all therapeutic areas and prioritized markets across the globe. The preferred candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, consultative mindset, and an ability to develop analytics solutions to inform commercial strategies. They will have demonstrated consistently strong leadership skills and an ability to hire, motivate and manage large end-to-end analytics teams. This role will require interfacing and collaborating with many teams so strong communication and influencing skills are a must. Primary Responsibilities: Provide thought leadership, education and partnership to the business on the transformative potential of AI/ML and generative AI technologies to drive commercial strategies and decision-making Guide the development of data science-powered products and solutions in close collaboration with cross-functional business and technical teams, aligning to key priorities Lead the standardization and operationalization of advanced AI/ML, generative AI, MLOps, and LLMOps capabilities across our digital product ecosystem to support the Human Health business Develop and deploy comprehensive playbooks to enable analytics practitioners across the organization to rapidly deliver on prioritized use cases Build and lead a high-performing team of top-tier generative AI experts to develop and leverage our proprietary platform, supporting hundreds of use cases Deliver responsible & impactful Generative AI use cases using the proprietary platform, facilitating rapid innovation & capability development Build a motivated analytics team; promote top talent in analytics and at the interface of data science, technology, and business Shape the hiring criteria and development programs of the capability team to mature data science capabilities across regions in line with business demand Contribute to a data-centric organizational environment that enables for empowerment of data scientists across HHDDA & HH team members Drive Design Thinking discipline to shape business demand and co-develop digital solutions with cross-functional teams Keep abreast of emerging business and analytic trends in the industry and collaborate closely with capability team to apply new techniques to drive effective decision-making Understand stakeholders' priorities and help build solutions that support business objectives Contribute to innovative experiments, specifically to idea generation, idea incubation and/or experimentation Keep abreast of new trends and methodologies being implemented / considered within the broader digital, data, analytics industry ecosystem and with our key customers Establish and manage local relationships with vendor partner ecosystem Lead agile working teams, cross-functional stakeholder groups and act as a solution partner for product development efforts Lead the creation of a comprehensive talent strategy for data and analytics professionals that includes onboarding, upskilling, career paths, and community Embody our company's Ways of Working: Operate as One Team, Focus on What Matters, Act with Urgency & Treat Everyone with Dignity & Respect Education: Bachelor's Degree Required Experience and Skills: 12+ years of experience in consulting, data analytics project delivery and managerial roles 10+ years of relevant experience in AI, Machine Learning, quantitative methods, predictive modeling, and other analytics frameworks/techniques 8+ years direct people management experience with a proven track record in performance management, talent development, and coaching Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, market dynamics, and commercial operations Recognized as a thought leader and innovator in the development of new tools, healthcare data ecosystems, and problem-solving approaches for data analytics Experience leading ideation and delivery of commercial decision support and insights platforms Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas with clarity and focus Demonstrated ability to manage large, geographically distributed teams with matrix reporting lines Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal direction Proven leadership and influencing skills, along with good analytical / problem-solving skills Excellent organizational skills, with ability to navigate a complex matrix environment Demonstrated ability to collaborate and lead with diverse groups of work colleagues and positively manage ambiguity Strong compliance mindset and ability to lead a high performing compliant innovative organization.
