Lumber Location: Eldon, MO\n\nSummary of Position\n\nA Yard Associate is responsible for making sure each and every customer of R.P. Lumber Co. customer receives prompt and courteous service while ensuring a culture of safety, accountability, and cleanliness at their location, including making sure product is properly stored and equipment is properly maintained. In addition, a Yard Associate must also participate in the delivery operations of their location, maintaining accuracy of product entering and leaving the yard as well as building loads for delivery and traveling on deliveries to assist in the safe unloading and stocking of shingles, drywall, lumber, millwork, and other products. The direct supervisor of a Yard Associate is the Yard Manager.\n\nResponsibilities of Position\nGreet customers or professional contractors in a friendly manner upon entry into the yard or Home Retail Center.\nLoad materials into customers' vehicles or on to company delivery vehicles, after validating type and quantity based on the record of the transaction from the company's point-of-sale system.\nUnload incoming freight, taking care not to damage the incoming goods or the equipment that belongs to the carrier.\nOperate forklift to merchandise and stock yard and warehouse.\nAccurately build loads and prepare materials for delivery before delivery takes place.\nAssist truck drivers in delivery of merchandise to homeowners and job sites using company equipment.\nRespond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, placement of orders, requests for prices and quotations, scheduling of deliveries and installations, and providing customer follow-ups as necessary.\nResponsible for maintaining inventory, product displays, and pricing labels within assigned area in regard to merchandising standards by stocking, facing, straightening, and cleaning or any other task necessary to maintain an organized, safe, and proper storage of inventory within lumberyard.\nResponsible for following and enforcing all safety rules and policies as outlined and communicated by management.\nPerform other assigned job duties and responsibilities as requested by the Yard Manager.\n\nRequired Skills\nForklift experience preferred in many of the tasks. Will train the right candidate.\nFollow safety expectations set by company safety policies consistent with the storage, handling, and transport of materials.\nRegular, reliable, dependable attendance.\nKnowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry is desired, but not required.\nStrong communication skills (verbal and written) when dealing with vendors, customers, management, and team members.\nAbility to apply common sense understanding and carry out simple one or two-step instructions.\nAbility to provide professional customer service and work in a team-oriented environment.\n\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED).\n1 year of prior related work experience preferred.\nAn acceptable driving record, valid state issued driver’s license (Missouri locations require a Class E license).\nHighly organized with a strong attention to detail.\nAbility to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.\nSuccessful applicants are subject to pre-employment drug testing, pre-employment background check and driver history checks in accordance with applicable federal and state law.\n\nPhysical Requirements of Position\nThis position requires sitting, standing, bending, and walking most of the day.\nThe physical demand of the position requires an individual to have the ability to bend, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and be able to frequently lift and/or move between 50 - 100 pounds.\nMust be able to work and tolerate adverse weather conditions.\n\nPlease note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.\n\nPay Rate / Wages & Benefits\n$15 - $20 (Hourly Rate)\nPotential pay rate based upon region, experience, education, licenses and certifications\nPay Transparency: This compensation listed reflects the pay range or rate of pay reasonably expected for this posted position at the posted location or locations.
