Building on more than 30 years of sustainability progress and industry‑first innovation, we remain ‘all in’ on our goal of becoming carbon negative by 2040, without the use of offsets.\nPosition summary: The responsibility of the Tufting Technician is to changeover, set up, and operate any Tufting Machine and to load and unload Tufting Machine with the goal of first quality carpet manufacture.\n\nEducational requirements:\nHigh school diploma or GED required\nSkills and experience:\nTwo Years Tufting experience with Interface preferred\nBasic mathematical skills required\nDemonstrated Leadership skills preferred\nGood communication skills, verbal and written\nMust have normal color vision or average to above-average shade discernment\nInterface White Belt and 6S Training preferred\nBasic Computer Skills\nEssential duties:\nConsult with Team Leader for run priority\nCheck run schedule for any special instructions\nConduct style changes and weight checks on all Tufting machines and set to the proper specifications\nCompare all new runs to the Standard Master for Run Approval\nApprove all quality for each Tufted order\nCheck current roll for anything unusual (lines, pattern, shade).\nCheck for crossed ends and correct\nAssist in all change overs to minimize downtime\nRethread the machine in the case of ends out or crossed ends\nLoad and Unload creels for each order, as needed\nInspect face and back of all the carpet as it comes out of the Tufting machines and identify defects\nAttempt to mend all runs and holes in carpet (using the appropriate mending yarn and gun provided), Continuously monitor rolls for first quality\nAlert the Fixer for any mechanical issues and defects that require mechanical repair\nMinimize carpet pileup before rollup in order to minimize stretch\nDoff the rolls of carpet after they reach the specified length and label\nAssist with all backing changes made during the shift\nCut master for each new style\nCheck all items listed above on that machine before starting\nDevelop a working knowledge of machine in order to correct any off quality carpet\nMaintain a place for scrap yarn and carpet to be kept for later recycling\nMaximize recycling of all recyclable materials and minimize waste\nAssist in giving breaks to other Operators to minimize machine downtime by watching and operating their machines while they are on break\nAssist others in general\nDeposit all yarn and carpet scraps into a specific container for later recycling\nPerform 6S audits and assignments\nComply with safety rules\nComply with environmental regulations\nBe aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)\nEnsure ISO procedures are followed.\nUnderstand and support Interface commitment to sustainability.\nPerform other duties as assigned\nMaintain Housekeeping\nPhysical demands:\nStanding - 90% of shift\nWalking up and down stairs\nConsiderable standing\nOccasional Pushing & Pulling wheeled cart with up to 360 lbs load\nOccasional lifting of up to 25lbs\nOccasional 12 hour shifts.\nOccasional changing of primary backing rolls\nWork environment:\nNon-climate controlled manufacturing environment\n\n#LI-AS1\n#On-site\nLearn more about Interface (NASDAQ: TILE) and our brands at interface.com and FLOR.com .
