They build smart appliances and infrastructure for homes, businesses and municipalities that turn food scraps into a valuable resource instead of sending them to landfill. Tens of thousands of their home recyclers are already in kitchens, diverting large volumes of food waste every year, and they are now launching a first-of-its-kind commercial product: an end-to-end system for managing, understanding and preventing food waste in settings like grocery, restaurants and food service. The hardware is genuinely well designed and easy to live with, and the software behind it is where a lot of the next chapter gets written. This is a senior individual-contributor role with real technical leadership attached. You'll drive the direction of your project area, write high-quality code across the stack, and mentor the engineers around you, reporting to the Director of Software Engineering. The team has dropped the frontend and backend split entirely: everyone works full stack, leaning to one side by strength and interest, with teams built around projects rather than layers. You'll anchor on a project long enough to build real depth, then rotate onto new parts of the codebase over time. What makes this stand out is how the team builds: AI-assisted development is core here, not a side experiment, and as a senior engineer you'll be expected to be fluent with tools like Claude Code day to day and to raise the bar for how everyone else uses them. It is also a hardware company, so your software runs on physical devices and you'll work alongside the firmware engineers who build them. The RoleAs a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will:Lead the technical design and execution of full-stack web applications, own the estimates and delivery plans, and surface risks early.Write elegant, well-documented, sustainable code across the full web stack, and support the native mobile environment when it's needed.Use AI-assisted development tools fluently as a standard part of how you write, review and ship, and help set the standard for how the team works with them.Mentor engineers, run thoughtful code reviews, and keep the bar high on quality.Partner closely with your project's product manager, communicating constraints and tradeoffs clearly without owning the roadmap yourself.Champion testing, CI/CD and deployment best practice, and keep applications fast, secure and reliable in production.About YouYou have 5+ years of professional software development, focused on full-stack work. You have deep experience with a modern frontend framework such as React, Vue, Angular or SvelteKit. The team uses SvelteKit, but strong React, Vue or Angular experience transfers well, so SvelteKit is preferred rather than required. You have strong backend experience with TypeScript and Node.js, comfort with serverless architectures such as AWS Lambda, a solid grasp of SQL and NoSQL, and hands-on experience with AWS and modern deployment workflows. You are fluent with AI-assisted development workflows such as Claude Code or Copilot as a real part of your day to day, not occasional or exploratory use.You have strong architecture fundamentals across microservices and serverless, and excellent problem-solving and debugging instincts. One of these backgrounds fits you: a senior full-stack engineer from a product-led startup, an engineer from a hardware or connected-devices company who has worked alongside firmware teams, or a strong full-stack generalist who has made AI-assisted development central to how they build.Nice to have: their exact stack (SvelteKit on Vercel, React Native, AWS Lambda with CDK in TypeScript and Middy), infrastructure as code such as Terraform or CDK, a strong handle on web security, and prior experience at a hardware company collaborating with firmware teams. You are comfortable holding ownership of a project over a sustained stretch while staying energised by the chance to rotate onto new problems, and you care about mentoring the people around you.You are based in the San Francisco Bay Area and comfortable with a hybrid working pattern. The role pays a competitive base plus a potential equity grant. The team is moving quickly with this hire.
