What you do matters and has\nsignificant impact on the medical, health, and scientific communities we serve.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nSupport a mission-critical enterprise application w/ ~17,000 users by administrating/managing the underlying Microsoft SQL Server database and providing Tier-3 user support.\nWork closely with other DBAs and cross-functional team for design, development, testing, verification, and implementation in database/SQL Server related activities.\nProvide guidance and technical support to the development team members regarding the database design/implementation.\nDesign and create logical and physical data models.\nDesign, develop and maintain database objects.\nImplement integrity constraints and indexes.\nWrite queries, stored procedures, and triggers.\nCreate installation scripts.\nCreate Data Transformation Service (DTS) packages to convert and load data.\nConduct performance tuning of queries and other database objects.\nConduct/design code reviews.\nTroubleshoot SQL Server, database, production and non-production environment issues and errors.\nMonitor user access and security.\nProvide operation, technical and user support.\nPerform regular maintenance and deploy and verify releases.\nDevelop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans.\nDevelop and maintain interfaces with internal and external systems.\nCreate, maintain, and update all system related documents.\nConduct capacity planning and provide recommendations.\nInterface with stakeholders to understand upcoming infrastructure needs.\nManage security and disaster recovery aspects of the database, including resolving security findings for MS SQL Server and the underlying operating system.\nDocument SOPs.\nPerform root cause analysis and create incident reports.\nSetup IIS server and web configurations as needed.\nWrite custom SQL queries to generate reports and dashboards.\nPerform data management and clean up.\nPerform routine health check of the production and non-production database environment.\nOccasional extended work and weekend work are required.\nInterface w/ end-users as Tier-3 helpdesk support for most-complex end-user related challenges which likely require back-end data-fixes.\nUsing GitHub as a revision control system for database scripts.\nQualifications and Skills:\n\nMinimum of 5 years practical (hands-on) experience in SQL Server database administration and data modeling providing development DBA support.\nBusiness Analysis-Data Analysis-Microsoft SQL - 5+ years exp.\nDatabase Administration-Microsoft SQL Server-CORE - 5+ years exp.\nDatabase Administration-Performance Tuning-SQL Server - 5+ years exp.\nDesired Skills and Competencies:\nThorough knowledge of SQL Server databases along with skills in data manipulation mechanisms such as SQL, stored procedures, views and triggers, etc.\nPractical (hands-on) experience in Microsoft SQL Server database administration and support.\nThorough knowledge of relational database principles, techniques, and best practices.\nActive Public Trust Clearance or ability to get public trust clearance.\nExtensive knowledge and experience in administration, programming and daily operations and support of Microsoft SQL Server versions including DTS, SQL Mail, Administration of SQL Jobs, backup and recovery, stored procedures, user defined functions, data modeling, etc.\nDemonstrated expertise and experience in overseeing the operations of large, mission critical Enterprise Systems database servers.\nDemonstrated expertise in developing mission critical data imports and exports with a diversity of data sources including mainframes, web services, FTP sites, ODBC and JDBC based data sources.\nExperience and expertise in the development, design, programming, and support of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.\nMust have proven problem-solving experience as applied to the 24/7 operations of an Enterprise System.\nMust have user/technical support experience.\nProven experience in SQL programming.\nHands-on experience developing data integration solution either through the use of a tool or a custom solution.\n\nAdditional Information:\n\nEmployment for this position is contingent upon the candidate being a United States citizen and having the ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance, in accordance with applicable federal regulations.
