About the job Press Room Supervisor - Metal Stamping Operations Schedule: 1st Shift (Mon-Thu, 5:00 AM-3:00 PM) | Occasional Fridays OT | Must be flexible across multiple shiftsOverviewWe are seeking a Press Tech Group Leader to support high-volume metal stamping operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving production performance, improving pressroom efficiency, leading lean manufacturing initiatives, and developing a skilled production team. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on stamping experience, deep tool & die knowledge, and proven leadership in a multi-shift manufacturing environment. Key ResponsibilitiesStamping Production & Technical SupportOptimize metal stamping operations to meet safety, quality, and production goals Troubleshoot press and tool & die issues to minimize downtime and improve uptime Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and tool room teams to improve die performance Support consistent execution of stamping processes across shifts Lean Manufacturing & SMEDLead SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) initiatives to reduce die changeover times Identify process inefficiencies and implement lean manufacturing improvements Use production data and KPIs to drive continuous improvement actions Standardize work processes to improve consistency and reduce variation Preventative MaintenanceSupport and improve preventative maintenance programs for stamping presses and tooling Ensure maintenance activities are documented and completed on schedule Partner with maintenance teams to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop production team members in a hands-on leadership role Conduct regular team meetings and performance discussions Serve as the first point of contact for shift-level employee relations issues Promote accountability, safety, and a continuous improvement culture Operational Excellence & CollaborationEnsure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards Coordinate across safety, quality, engineering, maintenance, and tool room functions Support multi-shift communication and operational alignment Help reduce waste, WIP, and inventory through process improvements Project LeadershipLead manufacturing and process improvement projects from planning to execution Develop timelines, allocate resources, and track deliverables Ensure projects are completed on time and meet performance expectations Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of experience in metal stamping or high-volume manufacturing Strong knowledge of tool & die principles and stamping press operations Proven experience implementing SMED and improving changeover performance Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (coaching, supervising, mentoring teams) Experience in fast-paced, multi-shift production environments Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Preferred ExperienceAutomotive, appliance, heavy equipment, or contract stamping environment experience Exposure to union or structured manufacturing environments Track record of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement success Experience leading cross-functional initiatives (maintenance, engineering, tool room) Physical RequirementsStanding for extended periods of time Frequent bending, stooping, and manual tasks Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
