Job Description
Licenses / CertificationsValid CDL Class A (preferred) or Class B (required in many areas) with appropriate state endorsement.Air‐brake endorsement if operating air‐brake equipped trucks (or demonstrated competency).Tanker endorsement (N/T) if required by local regulations for hauling liquid or slurry.Valid driver's license with clean driving record (no recent major violations).ExperienceMinimum 2+ years commercial truck driving (preferably heavy mixer/truck mixer experience).Experience operating concrete mixer trucks, batch trucks, or other heavy construction vehicles strongly preferred.Familiarity with loading/unloading, chute operation, and placing concrete is a plus.Safety & regulatoryCurrent DOT medical card (if CDL required) and ability to meet DOT physical standards.Pass pre‐employment drug & alcohol screen and be willing to submit to random testing.Knowledge of and compliance with DOT hours‐of‐service rules, company safety policies, and site safety plans.OSHA 10 (recommended) or equivalent safety training for construction site work.Skills & knowledgeProficient in operating mixer controls: drum rotation, speed, discharge, chute placement, water/additive dosing.Ability to read and follow mix tickets, work orders, and delivery instructions.Basic vehicle inspection skills and ability to perform pre‐trip/post‐trip inspections; report defects.Basic mechanical aptitude for simple on‐site adjustments and routine maintenance tasks.Good spatial awareness and ability to position truck safely on varied job sites.Strong customer service and communication skills — interact professionally with foremen and customers.Physical & work conditionsAbility to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work around moving equipment, and perform tasks in hot/cold/weather conditions.Comfortable standing, bending, climbing, and working outdoors for long shifts.Flexible schedule — ability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.Administrative & techAble to complete delivery documentation accurately (paper or electronic) and handle cash/check/verifications if required.Comfortable using GPS, mobile apps, and electronic dispatch systems.Background & vettingClean background check (no recent felonies that affect safety/trust).References from prior trucking or construction employers.Preferred / value‐addsExperience with concrete placement/finishing basics (helps with customer relations).Experience working in construction environments and understanding of site safety.Additional endorsements (tank, doubles/triples) or previous company safety awards.Onboarding & training expectationsComplete company orientation, safety training, and mixer‐specific operating training.Job‐shadow with experienced driver for 1–5 shifts before solo deliveries.Regular refresher training on safety, DOT rules, and customer service.
