Keep up-to-date with coding guidelines for physician services in both outpatient and inpatient settings, following CMS rules. Use all available coding resources to ensure accuracy in all services. May also involve teaching providers about coding. Adhere to the ethical coding standards set by the American Health Information Management Association and follow official guidelines. Follow HIPAA laws and regulations. Requirements:Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a Certified Professional Coding position. Active certified coder certification through AHIMA or AAPC required: CPC, CCS-P ( Certified Professional Coder, Certified Coding Specialist- Physician Based), RHIA or RHIT Pass a pre-employment coding exam.
