This role sits between frontline support and system design—requiring both strong operational execution and growing technical ownership.\n\nYou will act as a key escalation point for complex issues, contribute to system improvements, and help drive reliability and performance across video workflows. You’ll also begin taking ownership of small-to-medium projects and play an active role in shaping how our systems evolve.\n\nABOUT YOU\n\nYou care about your team and their diverse perspectives and are invested in their success\n\nYou are excited by new technology and its potential to improve systems and workflows\n\nYou enjoy solving complex problems and digging into root causes\n\nYou take ownership of your work and consistently follow through\n\nYou value data and use it to guide decisions and improvements\n\nYou enjoy mentoring others and sharing knowledge with teammates\n\nA SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nEngineering & Support\n\nAct as support for broadcast and distribution systems, troubleshooting issues beyond standard operating procedures\n\nSupport and maintain FOX’s compression and transport infrastructure with increasing independence\n\nIdentify root causes of recurring issues and implement long-term fixes\n\nParticipate in on‑call rotations supporting a 24/7 broadcast environment\n\nConduct system validation, testing, and performance analysis for new and existing workflows\n\nSystem Improvement & Ownership\n\nTake ownership of specific components or workflows within the video distribution pipeline\n\nContribute to improving system reliability, monitoring, and alerting\n\nAssist in developing and refining SOPs and technical documentation\n\nSupport lab testing, prototype development, and evaluation of new technologies (SMPTE ST 2110, cloud workflows)\n\nCollaboration & Partnerships\n\nPartner with Media Control Center and operations teams to resolve escalated issues\n\nCollaborate with engineering, product, and standards teams to implement system improvements\n\nWork with vendors to troubleshoot issues and validate new features or deployments\n\nData & Performance Optimization\n\nAnalyze dashboards, logs, and metrics to identify trends and performance gaps\n\nHelp reduce incident frequency through proactive monitoring and system tuning\n\nContribute to improving testing strategies and release validation processes\n\nMentorship & Team Development\n\nProvide guidance and support to junior engineers (Level 1)\n\nShare knowledge through documentation, walkthroughs, and troubleshooting sessions\n\nContribute to a culture of continuous learning and technical growth\n\nWHAT YOU WILL NEED\n\nStrong experience maintaining and troubleshooting compressed and uncompressed video workflows\n\nSolid understanding of MPEG/JPEG encoding, transcoding, multiplexing, encryption, and transport streams\n\nExperience with media distribution systems including SCTE insertion and satellite/linear workflows\n\nWorking knowledge of modern video transport protocols (SRT, RTP, Zixi, HLS)\n\nFamiliarity with SMPTE ST 2110 and SDI-based video transport\n\nAbility to independently troubleshoot complex system issues and identify root causes\n\nExperience with system monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning\n\nStrong collaboration skills across engineering, operations, and vendor teams\n\nAbility to lead small-to-medium projects and contribute to larger initiatives\n\nNICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER\n\nExperience with Python or scripting for workflow automation\n\nFamiliarity with cloud or hybrid video distribution architectures\n\nKnowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, switching)\n\nExposure to AI/ML tools for log analysis or workflow optimization\n\nExperience with 4K HDR, HDR10+, or JPEGXS\n\nBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)\n\n#Ll-DM1\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
