Key responsibilities of the position include:\n\nProvide expert user input to the team during design, testing, and deployment phases\nLead team to define, implement, and document experimental methods to evaluate system performance of AFM prototypes and accessories in different operational modes\nExercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.\nAnalyze complex data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors, and produce detailed report and product specifications based on results\nPropose and implement solutions for performance, function, and usability type issues\nDevelop automated methods to streamline testing efficiencies of routine tasks\nCreate new and novel customer application solutions using AFM core technologies\nSupport technical writers to generate content for manuals and customer documents\n\nThis position requires strong initiative, effective cross-functional teamwork, a hands-on approach, and deep technical expertise. Preferred candidates will be self-starters with the ability to set goals and achieve them with minimal supervision and have a high level for attention to detail. This position is onsite and based in Santa Barbara, CA.\n\nSkills Knowledge and Abilities\n\nExperience with scientific instrumentation, data analysis, measurement methods, and testing\nExperience in hardware & software product development for commercial products\nExperience with AFM instruments, modes, and nanoIR applications\nHaving wide-ranging experience, uses professional methods to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.\nAbility to make decisions, and effectively lead tasks and meet challenging deadlines\nAbility to build strong relationships and effectively partner with others\nAbility to multi-task in a rapid paced environment\nAbility to perform technical tradeoff studies\nStrong communication abilities, both verbally and written\nStrong Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint\nHard working, team oriented, curious, creative, and committed to quality\n\nQualifications:\nRequired qualifications include:\nRequires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or 3 years with a PhD degree in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Biology or Engineering\nPrevious experience in AFM, nanoIR, nano-mechanical, nano-electrical, or biological research or measurement required\nPeer reviewed publications in AFM or technical fields preferred\n\nWork Environment\nTypical office and laboratory work environment.\nOccasional work may be required in Class 1000 clean room with full gowning protocol.\nPhysical & Environmental Requirements\nNormal visual acuity and hearing.\nThe ability to lift and move equipment up to 30 pounds.\nAt Bruker, the base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $107,000 and $190,000 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge, and travel requirements for this position.
