Program Director is responsible for the development of the grant program, deciding upon funding priorities and managing the application and review process to oversee grantee relationships, monitoring performance, and reporting on impact. This role requires strategic, human-first strong program management skills, experience in grants management, and the ability to build trusted relationships with funders, grantees, and community stakeholders.\n\nThis is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the continuation of related grant funding.\n\nExamples of Duties\n\nDevelop and refine the strategic vision, goals, and funding priorities for the grant initiative in collaboration with senior leadership and the board.\nStay current trends, best practices, and policy developments in relevant field to inform program strategy.\nRepresent the initiative publicly at conferences, convenings, and partner meetings.\nEnsure compliance with all funder requirements, regulations, and internal policies, including documentation.\nDevelop and manage the initiative's annual budget, tracking expenditure and forecasting needs.\nServe as the primary point of contact for grantees, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and technical assistance.\nFoster a culture of trust, transparency, and partnership with funded organizations.\nMonitor grantee progress through reports and regular check-ins.\nPrepare timely, accurate reports for funders, the board, and other stakeholders.\nUse data and grantee feedback to drive continuous improvement of the program.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with finance, communications, and development teams.\n\nTypical Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.\n7+ years of progressively responsible experience in college student development, program management, and nonprofit leadership.\nDemonstrated experience managing grant programs, including compliance, budgeting, and reporting.\nStrong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports for funders or boards.\n\nSupplemental Information\n\nMust possess professional and organizational skills.\nMust possess strong verbal and written communication skills while interacting with a diverse population of students, administration, faculty, staff, funders, and the public.\nMaintain confidentiality, discretion and professionalism always.\n\nWe offer a complete benefits package to full-time employees and part-time employees who regularly work 20 hours or more per week including health care, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, legal insurance, accident, critical illness, hospitalization, tuition remission, holidays, vacation, and sick leave.\n\nTo learn more details, visit our website: https://home.hamptonu.edu/hr/benefits/.\n\nEmployer\nHampton University\nAddress\n200 William R.
