This role focuses on developing, modifying, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining MUMPS routines and related VistA functionality. The MUMPS Developer works with technical and functional stakeholders to implement reliable software changes, resolve defects, and support mission-critical healthcare systems.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDevelop, modify, test, and maintain MUMPS routines supporting VistA-based applications.\nAnalyze requirements, defects, and user-reported issues to determine needed MUMPS code changes.\nTroubleshoot MUMPS application behavior, data issues, and workflow defects in development, test, and production-like environments.\nReview existing MUMPS code to understand business logic, dependencies, and potential impacts.\nImplement code fixes and enhancements consistent with established coding, testing, and release practices.\nSupport unit testing, regression testing, defect validation, and documentation of results.\nCollaborate with developers, testers, analysts, and functional stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues.\nPrepare technical documentation, implementation notes, and support materials for software changes.\nKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:\n3+ years of hands-on MUMPS development experience.\nExperience developing, modifying, testing, and troubleshooting MUMPS routines.\nExperience supporting VistA or other MUMPS-based application environments.\nAbility to analyze existing code, identify defects, implement fixes, and validate software changes.\nUnderstanding of Agile SDLC practices, requirements analysis, testing, defect resolution, and release support.\nExperience using code repositories, issue tracking tools, and configuration management processes.\nAbility to document code changes, troubleshooting steps, and implementation support information.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.\nKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:\nExperience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs, is a plus.\nExperience supporting VA VistA, VistA Pharmacy, Outpatient Pharmacy, or other VA healthcare applications.\nFamiliarity with VistA patch support, software sustainment, or release support activities.\nFamiliarity with pharmacy, clinical, or healthcare operational workflows.\nUnderstanding of Federal healthcare information security, privacy, PHI/PII protection, and compliance expectations.\nPrior experience working with clinical, pharmacy, or healthcare informatics stakeholders.\nEDUCATION:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.\nCLEARANCE:\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.\nWORK LOCATION:\nRemote\nAs part of the application process, you are expected to be on camera during interviews and assessments.
