This position is adept at operating different kinds of heavy machinery such as trenchers and soil compactors.\r\nDuties and Responsibilities:\r\nConduct detailed irrigation inspections documenting repairs (upgrades included later)\r\nClean decorative water features\r\nExcavate and trench using shovels and other excavation hand tools.\r\nBackfill and compact in clean manner to minimize spoils, signs of excavation, and settling.\r\nMaintain work areas and jobsite in clean, safe, and hazard free condition at all times.\r\nMaintain vehicle, tools, and equipment in clean, organized and well stocked condition.\r\nTrain and mentor personnel in lower positions on technical irrigation topics\r\nProperly adjust all sprinkler types and nozzles and replace all types of sprinklers including appropriate use of check valves and PRS.\r\nSelect and install appropriate conventional and HE nozzles (including knowing precipitation rates)\r\nProperly solvent cement weld PVC (ASME B31.1 Bonding Procedures)\r\nRepair lateral lines under all conditions.\r\nRepair PVC and ductile iron mainlines under all conditions up to 6 inches.\r\nProperly replace all types of irrigation valves\r\nClean and rebuild valves under special customer request.\r\nConduct annual seasonal start up inspections and drip conversions.\r\nConduct winterizations (seasonal markets)\r\nInstall controllers (both conventional and smart)\r\nProgram conventional controllers.\r\nInstall rain sensors, soil moisture sensors and flow meters and master valves (including Hydrometers)\r\nComplete water saving upgrades.\r\nOperate excavation equipment (walk behind trencher and soil compactor)\r\nDiagnose shorts, open circuits, partial shorts using a multi-meter.\r\nUtilize a station master to activate and diagnose valves and tone wires.\r\nTrace underground wires and locate ground faults using a ground fault locator.\r\nTroubleshoot, identify, and repair conventional electrical irrigation problems.\r\nRecord materials and labor used to complete each job.\r\nWear proper PPE and follow all safety rules.\r\nEducation and Experience:\r\nMinimum 1-5 years prior landscape irrigation experience required.\r\nKnowledge of communication cable and radio communication/hardware experience preferred.\r\nKnowledge of mechanical fittings and mechanical gate valves.\r\nUnderstanding of irrigation controller hardware.\r\nTwo wire system experiences.\r\nKnowledge of brass valve rebuild preferred.\r\nResourceful, learns quickly and has a desire for knowledge.\r\nSelf-starter.\r\nDetail oriented.\r\nTCEQ Irrigator's Tech license.\r\nValid drivers license with clean driving record.\r\nTraining is offered and pay is negotiable.\r\nPhysical Demands/Requirements:\r\nAble to perform medium work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.\r\nBe at least 18 years old (21 if operating company provided vehicles)\r\nPossess strong stamina and have the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.\r\nAble to safely operate landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers).\r\nAble to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, stand, walk continuously throughout the day and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.\r\nAble to perform manual labor using a variety of hand tools (e.g. shovels, rakes)\r\nYou are able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes, high-visibility
