And so much more.\n\nCome break through with us.\n\nOur Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.\n\nRole Purpose\n\nThe Process Development Engineer will play a critical role in developing new extrusion processes and cable products within the Cable Technology division. This role is focused on advancing manufacturing capabilities and delivering innovative solutions that meet customer needs and align with Corning’s strategic goals.\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead and support cross-functional project teams to develop new products and processes that solve customer problems and create intellectual property.\nDesign, modify, and optimize equipment and continuous manufacturing processes, including specification creation, implementation, and commissioning.\nConduct research and experimentation to test hypotheses, enhance process understanding, and deliver inventive solutions.\nCollaborate with development technicians to execute experiments, collect and interpret data, and document results in technical reports and presentations.\nEvaluate manufacturability of proposed solutions and support initial implementation in global manufacturing sites (US, Germany, Poland, Mexico).\nInterface with suppliers to resolve material issues and stay informed on new material developments.\nPerform risk assessments related to equipment, processes, environmental impact, and product reliability.\nMaintain strong interaction with global process development personnel and support product cost reduction initiatives.\nExperiences/Education - Required\n\nEngineering Bachelor’s Degree\nProven ability to execute project assignments in a team-based environment.\nStrong foundation in engineering principles, particularly in extrusion and continuous manufacturing.\nExperience with tooling, equipment design, and process optimization.\nAbility to balance hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities.\nExperiences/Education - Desired\nMechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering degree\nExperience in fiber optic cable processes\nFamiliarity with polymer extrusion (e.g., polyethylene, polypropylene, PBT)\nKnowledge of mechanical design and/or PLC programming\nExposure to CAD tools and 3D modeling software (e.g., Inventor, Creo, KeyShot)\n\nThis position does not support immigration sponsorship.\n\nThe range for this position is $85,304.00 - $117,293.00 assuming full time status.
