This role will be critical for bridging design and production by ensuring tooling designs are optimized for precision, durability, and aerospace manufacturing requirements. The role will work closely with Design Engineering and the Manufacturing Integrated Product Team to define and develop detailed tooling solutions and develop ultimate plans for implementation and maintenance. Tooling engineers will act as a vital link between internal stakeholders and external OEMs, fostering strong partnerships and working closely with vendors to explore innovative solutions, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure the selected tooling solutions meet the highest standards of quality and performance.\n\nWhat You’ll Do:\n\nCreate detailed designs in CAD for tooling used in aerospace manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications and production goals.\n\nCollaborate with manufacturing and industrial engineering to develop tooling approaches that optimize the ability to perform key manufacturing processes.\n\nCoordinate with external OEMs and vendors to source, develop, and validate custom tooling solutions.\n\nValidate all tooling planning adheres to aerospace industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality protocols.\n\nDevelop tooling periodic inspections and testing to verify performance and suitability for production.\n\nDevelop tooling standards for design, production, and maintenance of all tooling solutions.\n\nOversee tooling projects from concept through implementation, managing timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.\n\nWhat You Bring:\n\nAn associate's, bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 8-years of experience in tooling engineering, preferably within the aerospace industry; experience in early-stage manufacturing program development is highly desirable.\n\nFamiliarity with working alongside OEMs and external vendors to develop and source tooling solutions.\n\nPractical experience designing or maintaining detailed tooling within aerospace or a similar high-precision manufacturing environment.\n\nProficiency with tools and systems such as CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks) and PLM platforms (e.g., TeamCenter) to support collaborative production planning and execution.\n\nKnowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies, such as additive manufacturing or CNC machining.\n\nApply and interpret GD&T to ensure designs are dimensioned and toleranced for manufacturability, inspection, and assembly alignment.\n\nExcellent communication skills and a self-starter that takes initiative without supervision.\n\nPreferred Skills (Nice to Have)\n\n1-2 years of leadership experience either in management or as a technical team leader\n\n1-2 years of new manufacturing program development or capture experience\n\nFamiliarity and use of Siemens Suite of Manufacturing tools, specifically TeamCenter, Process Simulate, and NX\n\nCompensation:\nOur compensation package is a blend of base salary and equity options for eligible employees. The range for this role is $135,000 - $150,000.
