Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.The Mechanical Design Engineer for Production Tooling is responsible for driving the development of innovative tooling, equipment, and processes for the manufacture of our eVTOL and eCTOL products.You will be expected to leverage your past industry experience and supplement with new knowledge gained through research and experimentation as you design, build, and validate tooling and equipment for our manufacturing processes.You will have CAD modeling and structural, thermal, and CFD analysis tools at your disposal to help you ensure that your designs are meeting or exceeding all design, safety, and regulatory requirements.How You Will Contribute To Revolutionizing Electric AviationDesign tools, jigs, fixtures and machines to support manufacturing processesDevelop solutions for efficiency, rate, quality, ergonomics, safety or other target areas of improvementEvaluate existing manufacturing processes to enable optimization with improved tooling/equipmentWork with the product design team to improve the design of parts and assemblies for manufacturability - datums, handling features, requirements, etc.Lead process ideation, creation and development effortsSupport commissioning and validation of tooling and equipmentPrototype and test tooling conceptsFabricate and modify parts as needed, including tasks such as machining and weldingDevelop maintenance and troubleshooting documentation including qualification and calibration proceduresStay up to date on the art of what's possible in the industry. Be on the forefront of manufacturing R&DMinimum QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering degree with strong Mechanical Design focus from an accredited UniversityMinimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical designProficiency with 3D CAD software (Solidworks or Catia preferred) with experience in Structural FEAProficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, experience with ASME Y-14.5 preferredSelf-starter that is well organized, disciplined, team player, and communication skills requiredExperience with Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, application lifecycleAbove And Beyond Qualifications That Will Distinguish YouExperience with manufacturing tooling designExperience with designing and implementing industrial automation solutionsUnderstanding of material properties and their appropriate application Experience in most of the following areas of design and test: composites, thermal design, structural analysis, shock and vibePhysical Demands And Work EnvironmentMust be able to be active on their feet for a full 8-hour shiftAble to lift 25lbsAble to be in front of a computer for at least several hoursThe wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role.
